  • Publication number: 20150230744
Abstract: A method for assessing a subject perception of a stimulus property, comprising: applying to a subject at least a first sensory stimulus having a first value for the stimulus property and a second sensory stimulus having a second value for the stimulus property different from the first value; requesting the subject to identify a characteristic of the first and second sensory stimuli during the application thereof, the characteristic being unrelated to the stimulus property to be assessed, thereby focusing an attention of the subject on a decision making task; measuring an activity of at least one brain region of the subject during the application of the first and second sensorial stimuli and the identification of the characteristic thereof, thereby obtaining a brain activity measurement; and determining a difference of stimulus property perceived by the subject between the first and second sensory stimuli from the brain activity measurement.

  • Publication number: 20150230732
Abstract: Method for measuring the visually-induced postural instability of a person is described, the method comprising a display providing step (S1) during which a visual display device is provided. The display device is arranged so as to display a dynamic visual pattern in at least 50% of the lower half of the visual field of the person, leaving an upper half of the visual field of the person free. The method also comprises a display step (S2) during which a dynamic visual pattern is displayed on the visual display device. The method further comprises a measuring step (S3) during which a parameter representative of the postural instability is measured when the person is gazing at a fix target straight in front while having the dynamic visual pattern displayed on the visual display device.

  • Publication number: 20150055082
Abstract: A progressive lens comprising a progressive ophthalmic surface including a main progression meridian dividing the surface into a nasal portion and a temporal portion and passing through at least one fitting point Py of ordinate Yp in a coordinate system centered on a reference point O(0; 0). For the points located at an ordinate Yp on either side of said fitting point Py, the points of ordinate Yp being contained inside a 50 mm diameter disc centered on the reference point O: 0.5 ? ? MaxgradCyl Ny ? ? 1 - MaxgradCyl Ty ? ? 1 MaxgradCyl Ny ? ? 1 + MaxgradCyl Ty ? ? 1 ? ? 0.2 where: MaxgradCylNy1 is the absolute value of the maximum cylinder gradient of all the points located at said ordinate Yp in the nasal portion of the surface; and MaxgradCylTy1 is the absolute value of the maximum cylinder gradient of all the points located at said ordinate Yp in the temporal portion of the surface.

  • Publication number: 20150024357
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a perceptual-cognitive-motor learning system. The system includes an apparatus for evaluating or improving perceptual-cognitive abilities of a subject during a training sequence. The system also has a training sequence controller for adding in at least a part of the training sequence at least one of (a) a first motor load add-on to the subject and (b) a second motor load add-on to the subject, the second motor load being heavier than the first motor load. A variant of the system has a user interface for allowing the subject to change at least one parameter of the training sequence.

  • Patent number: 8369955
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a system for improving sensitivity of a first sensory, reflex and/or motor mechanism of a subject by stimulating a second sensory, reflex and/or motor mechanism of the subject. For that purpose a noise is applied to the second sensory, reflex and/or motor mechanism to improve the sensitivity of the first sensory, reflex and/or motor mechanism due to cross-modal SR interactions.

  • Publication number: 20120059229
Abstract: A device and method for measuring mild perceptual impairment of a human subject, in which a stimulus having at least one parameter is applied to the human subject. The human subject produces a response to the stimulus indicative of a perception by the human subject of the at least one parameter of the stimulus. The response of the human subject is then processed in view of determining if the human subject suffers from mild perceptual impairment.

  • Publication number: 20110300522
Abstract: A device and method for evaluating or improving perceptual-cognitive abilities of a subject, comprising displaying virtual objects moving in a given three-dimensional environment during successive tests. The subject is in visual contact with the virtual objects moving in the three-dimensional environment, and the speed of movement of the virtual objects in the three-dimensional environment during the successive tests is changed.

  • Patent number: 6416481
Abstract: In the method and apparatus for assessing neural integrity of a patient's central nervous system, the patient is stimulated with a visual or auditory flickering stimulus, and oxygenation in the patient's second eye is sensed. Finally, the method and apparatus detects whether a change in the sensed oxygenation occurs in response to stimulation of the patient with the visual or auditory flickering stimulus. This change in the sensed oxygenation is indicative of neural integrity of the patient's central nervous system.

  • Patent number: 6149589
Abstract: In the spectroreflectometry oxygenation measuring method and device, a light source produces a light beam having a spectral bandwidth including the wavelengths from 450 nm to 850 nm. A first optical system propagates the light beam from the light source to a two-dimensional area of the fundus of a patient's eye, the light beam being reflected at least in part by the fundus of the patient's eye to produce a reflected light beam. A detector unit detects the spectral content of the reflected light beam and produces a signal indicative of the spectral content of this reflected light beam. A second optical system propagates the reflected light beam from the fundus of the patient's eye to the detector unit. This second optical system comprises an optical scanning sub-system for scanning a plurality of points of the two-dimensional area of the fundus of the patient's eye.
