  • Patent number: 9896903
Abstract: A method of treating a subterranean formation via well bore may include introducing a plurality of particles into the subterranean formation via the well bore, each particle having a substrate and a layer of cement on the substrate. The cement may be in a state of suspended hydration and the method may include introducing moisture to the subterranean formation via the well bore. The method may also include allowing the particles and the moisture to contact one another. Contact between the particles and the moisture may cause the cement to move from a state of suspended hydration to a state of secondary hydration.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 19, 2015
Date of Patent: February 20, 2018
    Assignee: SHELL OIL COMPANY

  • Patent number: 8535433
Abstract: The present invention provides a sulphur cement precomposition, comprising sulphur and at least a polysulphide-containing organosilane in an amount of at least 0.3 wt % based on the weight of the total composition, which polysulphide-containing organosilane is of the general molecular formula: (X3Si)mH(2n+l?m)Cn-Sa-Cn?H(2n?+l?m?)(SiX?3)m? wherein a is an integer in the range of from 2 to 8, X and X? each are, independently, a hydrolysable group, n and n? each are, independently, an integer in the range of from 1 to 4, and m and m? each are, independently, an integer in the range of from 1 to (2n+1).
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 8252222
Abstract: The present invention provides a mold for shaping a sulphur cement product, which mold has an inner surface describing an inner volume for receiving a cast material, an outer surface and a barrier comprised between the inner surface and the outer surface, which barrier has a thermal conductance per unit area of at most 100 W/m2K in a direction perpendicular to the inner surface. The invention further provides a process for shaping a sulphur cement product.

  • Publication number: 20100242807
Abstract: The present invention provides a sulphur cement pre-composition, comprising sulphur and at least a polysulphide-containing organosilane in an amount of at least 0.3 wt % based on the weight of the total composition, which polysulphide-containing organosilane is of the general molecular formula: (X3Si)mH(2n+1?m)Cn—Sa—Cn?H(2n?+1?m?) (SiX?3)m? (1) wherein a is an integer in the range of from 2 to 8, X and X? each are, independently, a hydrolysable group, n and n? each are, independently, an integer in the range of from 1 to 4, and m and m? each are, independently, an integer in the range of from 1 to (2n+1). The invention further provides a process for preparing such sulphur cement pre-composition, a process for the preparation of sulphur cement or sulphur cement-aggregate composite, a sulphur cement or a sulphur cement-aggregate composite and the use of such sulphur cement pre-composition.
