  • Patent number: 8787390
Abstract: A reachability service is provided to connect portable nodes of a moving network to at least one external, fixed network via at least one mobile router. Temporary name identifiers are allocated to the portable nodes and mapped to current reachable addresses of the portable nodes by at least one proxy name server.

  • Publication number: 20120250658
Abstract: A method, a device, and a computer program product detect changes to the connection of a device, such as a mobile device to a network, and initiate at least one measure when changes are detected. Changes might be caused by malicious users or malicious mobile phone SW in order to perform Denial of Service (DoS) attacks to the network. Those changes could be, for example, frequent handover actions, frequent attach/detach actions or frequent Packet Data Protocol context activation, deactivation or modification actions initiated by a mobile device or a group of mobile devices. The changes to the connection are detected by checking if parameters related to the mobile device, or related to network elements, violate defined policy rules. The detection itself is done in a network element, such as a core network element.

  • Patent number: 7656879
Abstract: A mechanism for a bidirectional reservation procedure within an in-band signaling mechanism gives symmetric real-time services running on mobile devices, which are used to support different access technologies in dynamic, mobile, wireless IP networks where the quality of the node connectivity can sometimes be unpredictably time-varying, the possibility to mutually reserve, monitor and adapt resources and service parameters for upstream and downstream direction along a communication path. The mechanism optimizes reservation mechanisms, especially for adaptive real-time services in wireless and wireless ad-hoc networks, by making use of a dynamic bidirectional reservation in-band signaling approach.

  • Publication number: 20080267186
Abstract: Address translation is performed by a home domain of a first, e.g., mobile, network which may be moving relative to a second, e.g., packet oriented network, to convert the address of a first endpoint in the mobile network, associated with the home address of the first network to a second destination endpoint belonging to the second network.

  • Publication number: 20060215595
Abstract: The present invention relates to a telecommunications system, in particular to a telecommunications system which includes a mobile network having a plurality of portable communication devices, and, a fixed network which includes a signaling agent, a plurality of directory agents, and a plurality of spaced apart attachment points to which the mobile network can attach. In use, each directory agent stores a routing table for routing data to a respective mobile communication device associated with that directory agent. When the point of attachment of the mobile network changes, the mobile network sends a change-of-address message to the signaling agent. In response, the signaling agent is configured to forward the change of address to each directory agent, so that each can update its routing table to take into account the changed point of attachment of the mobile network.

  • Publication number: 20060010250
Abstract: For optimized IP-routing the invention discloses a home agent and method for transfer of an IP packet over a path from a sender (CN) over a radio access network (RAN, HA, FA 11) to a mobile host (MS2), wherein, when a home agent (HA) receives an incoming data packet determined for a mobile host (MS2) with a destination address (MS2-address 137.21.16.5), the home agent (HA) examines if there is a match between the destination address (MS2-address: 137.21.16.5) of the packet and a subnetwork address (FA 11-address: 137.21.16.0) of a foreign agent (FA 11) stored in a list of subnetwork addresses (137.21.16.0; 137.22.25.0) stored in a list at the home agent (HA), wherein, if there is a match between the destination address (MS2-address: 137.21.16.5) and a subnetwork address (FA 11-address: 137.21.16.
