  • Patent number: 9438394
Abstract: In an embodiment the method includes, at a transmit side, grouping carriers into carrier groups, and selecting a group constellation diagram for modulation of the carriers of a given carrier group. The selected group constellation diagram is built as a hierarchical sum of I super-imposed constellations vectors having predefined decreasing powers with the P strongest and the Q weakest constellation vectors being omitted. The carriers of the carrier group are modulated by means of the selected group constellation diagram, and P and/or Q parameters per carrier group and per multi-carrier data symbol are adjusted.

  • Patent number: 9270332
Abstract: The invention pertains to a method and apparatus for testing a component of a vectoring system, such as a DSLAM performing crosstalk cancellation. The method is based on the insight that line termination equipment, such as a DSLAM, and in particular the crosstalk canceller, can be used to simulate a multiline network. A signal is exchanged between the line termination equipment and attached network termination equipment, passing through the crosstalk canceller which acts as a multiline simulator. Information indicative of an error component in a received version of the signal is used to assess the operation the vectoring system.

  • Patent number: 9136907
Abstract: In one embodiment, the method includes determining, at an access node, a precoder matrix for precoding transmission from the access node to a plurality of downstream devices over a plurality of lines. The plurality of lines include high power lines and low power lines. The high power lines are in active communication and transmit more symbols per frame than the low power lines. The method further includes precoding a signal vector using the precoder matrix regardless of the symbols the signal vector is sending over the low power lines. Here, the determining determines the precoder matrix such that the precoding does not mitigate the cross-talk effect the high power lines have on the low power lines. The method also includes transmitting over the plurality of lines based on the precoded signal vector.
