  • Publication number: 20240305128
Abstract: Fast chargers have recently become widespread due to their ability to reduce charging times. Because of the high power needed from the grid, these chargers need a very complicated infrastructure with high rated components like connectors, cables, and breakers which are not commonly found. Installing a used battery with the charger helps reduce power drawn from the grid as the battery supports the charger to supply the needed power to the load. Therefore, the user can enjoy fast charging without the need to invest in changing their infrastructure. The batteries can also supply power during peak periods when electricity prices are high, which will reduce the user peak demand, thereby reducing the electricity bill. The charger can also be upgraded with a converter to integrate solar panels into the system, where the solar panel supplies the power to the batteries as well as the grid.

  • Publication number: 20240199185
Abstract: The ongoing electrification revolution, originating in the automotive industry, has now expanded into the marine sector. This transition from internal combustion engines to electric motors necessitates careful adjustments due to the unique characteristics of electric motors, notably their high starting force. In the context of watercraft, where structural modifications are undesirable, this disclosure introduces a drive system fixation unit. This unit effectively redirects the sterndrive force from the stern wall to the sturdy structural base of the watercraft, ensuring a seamless integration of electric propulsion without compromising the vessel's integrity.

  • Publication number: 20240170976
Abstract: Disclosed herein are different charging stations, systems, and methods for recharging swappable or non-swappable batteries having differing states of health, impedance, age, etc. Swappable and non-swappable battery packs may be charged in parallel, but the amount of charge current supplied to each parallel battery pack is determined individually by the battery pack itself. Each battery may have its own maximum charge and/or discharge current limits set individually to avoid using a battery pack over its rating, provide voltage equalization, and control energy flow among the plurality of rechargeable battery packs. This also extends the operating lifetime of older battery packs. In a charging mode, a battery charger may set a floating voltage and each battery pack may take its own current to provide voltage equalization. Additionally, a battery pack can boost its own voltage to maintain the required voltage level by a particular load/application.

  • Patent number: 5480127
Abstract: In a method for melting and treating metals and metal alloys, especially steels, solid charge material is melted in a ladle. Then while passing a gas through the melt at least part of the time, at least one of the treatments of decarburization, dephosphorization, deoxidation, desulfurization, alloying and removing nonmetallic inclusions is performed in the same ladle. An apparatus for the practice of the method has two tracks (W1, W2) for the ladle (5), which are aligned in an approximate T-shape to one another, a preheating station (9) and a slag removal station (14) being arranged in the top part of the T and, at the intersection between the top part and the stem between the preheating station (9) and the slag removal station (14), the first treatment station (10) with a heating system is disposed, and at the free end of the stem of the T a second treatment station (16) for the vacuum treatment is disposed.

  • Patent number: 4049039
Abstract: An arrangement for the manufacture of solid forging blocks with manipulator pins in which an electro-slag remelt process is used for filling an ingot having a vertical bore hole. At least one consumable electrode is used, and the ingot with the vertical bore is placed on a block table having at least one power connection in the region of the block table and flush with a depression for slag start material. The filling of the core zone is started with this depression having a depth of substantially at least 25% of the diameter of the block bore. A movable starting disk is applied as a lower boundary of the depression, and the slag start material is placed on top of the disk. After formation of liquid slag, the depression is exclusively filled from material of the consumable electrode. The power connection to the starting disk is fed along during the entire remelt process.
