    Abstract: A device and a method for checking the leak-tightness of an electrochemical energy store includes a detection unit that can detect a gas concentration in a battery housing that is closable. The detection unit is a metal oxide sensor connected to an evaluation unit, and as a function of the detected gas concentration a control signal is automatically generated by the evaluation unit for disconnecting the electrochemical energy store and/or for triggering a binder release unit.
