The list of manufacturing plants participating in the production of a particular end product is referred to as a plant group for business entities. The BOMs for the component products produced by various plants within the plant group for a final end product are inserted into or associated with the BOM for the final end product that includes the component products.

    Abstract: Techniques for bill of material (BOM) low-level code harmonization are disclosed. The BOMs from different sources for each product are ranked according to corresponding low-level codes of the end product. The BOMs are scanned in order to determine the lowest low-level code for all BOMs for a particular product. The BOMs for the particular product are then associated with the lowest low-level code. Once all the BOMs for each product are assigned the lowest low-level code for that product, then the BOMs are rescanned in the ranked order to determine the lowest low-level code associated with each end product in BOMs in which the end products are included as components. Each BOM for each end product is then associated with lowest low-level code from the BOM in which the end product is listed as a component. The harmonized low-level codes are used for determination of eligibility for preferential customs duties.

The framework is flexible enough for users to easily develop their own preference schemes for new preference agreements. Users may first define (or modify) their responsible areas for preference management by assigning (or removing) administrative units of a business to themselves. Then the users may begin the preference processing by choosing one of their assigned administrative units and any preference agreements relevant to that administrative unit may be automatically determined for possible following steps in preference processes which can now be started.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for tracking goods. In one implementation, commercial goods are tracked in a trade zone having customs procedures. The goods include sets of bonded goods that are stored at a plurality of physically non-contiguous bonded storage locations and at least one set of unbonded goods that are stored at one or more unbonded storage locations. A virtual zone is defined to include the bonded storage locations, the sets of goods in the virtual zone forming a net inventory. A transaction request is received to execute a transaction upon a target set of goods of the commercial goods. The transaction is evaluated to determine whether the transaction affects the net inventory of the virtual zone. If the transaction affects the net inventory of the virtual zone, a message is generated for a customs authority to comply with the customs procedures.
