  • Publication number: 20070151818
Abstract: Disclosed is an electromechanically actuated parking brake for motor vehicles that is designed as a drum brake of the ‘Duo-Servo’ type, including a floatingly supported expanding lock which is operable by an electromechanical actuator arranged on a wheel carrier, and which is essentially composed of a threaded-nut/spindle assembly, the threaded nut of which is driven by the electromechanical actuator, and of two thrust members. At least one spring element is provided in the flux of force between the threaded-nut/spindle assembly and at least one of the thrust members. This provision allows compensating losses of application force, while the set application force is maintained in a reliable manner.

  • Publication number: 20060273658
Abstract: It has been shown that the effectiveness of the brake (3, 4) can be reduced not only due to external foreign materials on the brake linings, but also due to the coefficient of friction of a brake lining that can vary. This is the case, for example, when a brake lining is not yet worn in, when it exhibits tapered wear, or when its surface changes due to chemical influences. Influences of this type can alter the coefficient of friction of a brake lining by 20% and higher entailing, under certain circumstances, negative consequences during a possible brake operation. An object of the present device is to improve the coefficient of friction of a brake lining under certain conditions. This object is achieved by a program for improving the coefficient of friction of the brake lining that is initiated depending on a first parameter and is terminated depending on a second parameter.

  • Publication number: 20060254868
Abstract: Discloses is a motor vehicle brake having at least one brake disc or brake drum, at least two brake linings, and a device for detecting the tensioning force acting upon the brake linings when the motor vehicle is actuated. The brake linings include a carrier plate and a friction layer that is movable into engagement with the brake disc or brake drum. The device for detecting the tensioning force is designed so that it senses variations in the electric resistance (3) of the friction layer (2) that occur upon actuation of the motor vehicle brake, and evaluates them to determine the tensioning force. This allows for measurements of the tensioning forces that occur upon brake actuation with a sufficiently high rate of measuring accuracy at low costs.
