  • Patent number: 4533132
Abstract: The invention is a collating and stitching machine to arrange into informative and significant order a plurality of part-product or sheets. The machine has at least two rotating sheet delivery drums, the axis of rotation of which extend substantially perpendicularly to the conveying direction of an endless conveyor. The endless conveyor transports the folded sheets during the collating thereof with their folded backs extending transversely to the conveying direction and with the folded backs leading the direction of movement. The conveyor inserts the sheets one into the other. At least one stitching head is arranged in the return area to the endless conveyor to stitch the sheets together and thereby form a booklet, a magazine or the like.

  • Patent number: 4296684
Abstract: Printing products from a printing machine are successively moved one above the other against a stop to form a stack. A leading product in contact with the stop is biased adjacent to its fold by a perpendicular force compressing the fold. A trailing product is moved on the free end face of the leading product and the perpendicular compressing force is substantially relieved upon approach of the trailing product fold to the stop. The trailing product is biased by a perpendicular force in such a manner that the trailing product is pressed adjacent its fold against the leading product. The movement of the trailing product is not hindered by the perpendicular forces and is synchronized with the build up and relief of the perpendicular forces.

  • Patent number: 4125253
Abstract: From a printing machine a stream of printing products is received. To build up a stack of predetermined length a plurality of part-stacks is successively composed from the incoming stream. Each of the part-stacks comprises at least one product. The total number of products within the plurality of part-stacks is adjusted so as to correspond to the predetermined length of the stack to be built up. If said plurality of part-stacks having said total number has been successively composed these part-stacks are combined to form the total stack having the predetermined stack length.

  • Patent number: 4083461
Abstract: A system for storing of printing products brought out from a printing machine and for transporting them to a further-treatment machine of the type wherein the printing products are kept in a compressed state by external forces within a staple during storage and transport and wherein the forces are reduced before the further-treatment. At least one rigid transport stand is provided for the reception of at least one staple. The staple is provided at each of its portions contacting the staple end faces with at least one groove opening towards the staple end face. Both the grooves extend parallel to each other and open to the outside of the transport stand. Movable gripping means with at least two spaced gripping fingers movable with respect to each other are provided.
