  • Publication number: 20010007935
Abstract: A three dimensional disposable panty for holding a sanitary pad. The panty may have elasticized leg and waist openings and be stretchable about the hip and stomach regions of a user. The panty provides backup leakage protection to the sanitary pad. The panty includes an absorbent barrier composite positioned in the crotch area and extending into the body of the disposable panty front and back and over the leg elastics to trap pad leakage inside the pant and prevent liquid strike through onto outer clothing and bed linen.

  • Patent number: 6174303
Abstract: A disposable absorbent article defines an outer cover, an absorbent chassis and a dual fastening system. The dual fastening system includes a pair of primary fasteners located on the outer cover in one of the waist regions of the absorbent article and a pair of secondary fasteners located on the outer cover in the opposite waist region of the absorbent article. The primary fasteners are configured to engage an outer surface of the absorbent article to maintain the article about the waist of the wearer and the secondary fasteners are configured to engage a body facing surface of the absorbent chassis to support the absorbent chassis. The absorbent chassis is attached to the outer cover at the waist edges and remains at least partially unattached from the outer cover between the waist edges to allow the outer cover to have a blousy appearance. Thus, the disposable absorbent article has an aesthetically pleasing garment-like appearance and improved fit and containment during use.

  • Patent number: 6142983
Abstract: A disposable absorbent article defines an outer cover, an absorbent chassis and an absorbent support member which is configured to maintain the absorbent chassis close to a wearer's body in use. The absorbent chassis includes a backsheet, a bodyside liner which is connected to the backsheet in a superposed relation and an absorbent core disposed between the backsheet and the bodyside liner. The absorbent chassis is attached to the outer cover at the waist edges and remains at least partially unattached from the outer cover between the waist edges. The absorbent support member is attached to the absorbent chassis and extends between and connects the absorbent chassis to the side edges of the outer cover. The absorbent support member maintains the absorbent chassis in a close, conforming fit with the wearer's body even after the chassis becomes saturated with body exudates while the outer cover is free to move independently from the absorbent chassis.

  • Patent number: 6010586
Abstract: A disposable absorbent article defines a first side portion, a second side portion, and a longitudinal centerline between the side portions. The absorbent article comprises an outer cover and an absorbent insert which is connected to the outer cover. The outer cover comprises a first side panel which is located in the first side portion of the absorbent article and a second side panel which is located in the second side portion of the absorbent article. An edge of the first side panel is connected to an edge of the second side panel to provide a seam which extends along the longitudinal centerline between the side portions of the absorbent article. The opposite waist regions on each side panel are configured to encircle the legs of the wearer and releasably engage together about the hips of the wearer. The disposable absorbent article has an aesthetically pleasing garment-like appearance and is readily refastenable about the hips of the wearer.

  • Patent number: 5931826
Abstract: An absorbent article includes an absorbent core positioned between a bodyside liner and an outer cover. Containment flaps are inwardly folded to form containment reservoirs which inhibit exudates from leaking through or out of the absorbent article. The containment flaps include flap elastics which form surface contact with the user's body. The containment flaps are generally spaced outwardly from the absorbent core to increase the capacity of the reservoirs. In one embodiment, the unfolded containment flaps have a width greater than the crotch side width from the absorbent core to an outer edge of the absorbent article. This arrangement also allows the absorbent article to contain a sudden increase in exudates.
