Patent number: 11062335Abstract: A method and apparatus for spawning and management of online surveys is provided. An administration and redirector subsystem (ARS) is used manage ongoing surveys for a plurality of sites. Surveys can be added to or removed from individual sites using the ARS. The ARS also tracks statistics for individual surveys. Redirector tags invite users to participate in surveys and track user survey participation through cookies. The system can be used to conduct advertisement effectiveness studies. Tracker tags and corresponding cookies are used to track users who have viewed content containing the tag. Each study is issued a unique content tag, but uses the same redirector tag.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2015Date of Patent: July 13, 2021Assignee: KANTAR LLCInventors: Stephen Jepson, Jody Francis Powlette, Michael Queenan

Patent number: 9213587Abstract: A Java applet program loaded initially from a remote server is configured to receive additional user annotations for data displayed in an already opened applet window located at the user's client system. The user is permitted to preserve/capture, the modified applet window containing any such input or modifications to the applet window data. The updated applet window data cannot be written to the user's client system, instead, the modified window data is converted to a standard compressed graphics file format and then uploaded to the remote server. From there the applet can then open another applet window within a browser program pointing to the location of such file on the remote server. At that point, the user can then perform any desired operation on the file since the browser has access to the local system resources.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2011Date of Patent: December 15, 2015Assignee: Rateze Remote Mgmt. Patent number: 8255805Abstract: A Java applet program loaded initially from a remote server is configured to receive additional user annotations for data displayed in an already opened applet window located at the user's client system. To increase the usefulness and flexibility of such program, the user is permitted to preserve/capture, during an interactive session, the modified applet window containing any such input or modifications to the applet window data. Because the updated applet window data cannot be written to the user's client system, however, (due to security restrictions), the present invention instead causes such modified window data to be converted to a standard compressed graphics file format (such as GIF for an image file for example), and then uploaded to the remote server. From there the applet can then open another applet window within a browser program pointing to the location of such file on the remote server. At that point, the user can then perform any desired operation on the file (i.e.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2006Date of Patent: August 28, 2012Assignee: Maquis Techtrix LLCInventor: Jody Francis Powlette

Patent number: 7398223Abstract: A method and apparatus for assigning a survey to a respondent are provided. According to one technique, a set of one or more screening questions are generated and provided to the respondent. Input data is received in response to the respondent answering the set of one or more screening questions. Based on how the respondent answered the set of one or more screening questions, it is determined which survey should be presented to the respondent. According to another aspect, the set of one or more screening questions is generated based on the target participation criteria that is associated with one or more active surveys.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2004Date of Patent: July 8, 2008Assignee: Insightexpress, L.L.C.Inventors: Florian Michael Kahlert, Jody Francis Powlette, Leroy Smith, Jr.

Patent number: 7036081Abstract: A program is disclosed for permitting a user to directly annotate and capture data associated with a Java™ based applet application running within a conventional browser program. The program addresses sand-box local security restrictions otherwise attendant with such applet by exploiting non-local system resources that are accessible to such types of applications.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2001Date of Patent: April 25, 2006Assignee: Maquis Techtrix LLCInventor: Jody Francis Powlette
