  • Patent number: 4105730
Abstract: A method of making a thin-walled tubular container. The container defines a head portion with access means to the contents of the container, and a tail portion defining a sealed line in the tail portion, joining sides of the container into a sealed end with a flat plastic piece being formed integral with the sealed line and extending away therefrom. In accordance with this invention, a pair of spaced rod members are formed as an integral part of the flat, plastic piece, the rod members extending transversely of the longitudinal axis of the container. The flat plastic piece also defines a portion thereof between the rod members which is thinner than any remainder of the plastic piece spaced from the rod members. Accordingly, the rod members and intermediate portion therebetween provide an improved and stronger tail seal.

  • Patent number: 4100953
Abstract: A flexible, collapsible container defining a relatively rigid shoulder and neck portion at one end and a relatively rigid base at the other end, and having a flexible tubular wall between the shoulder and the base, utilizes first and second pairs of oppositely-disposed gusset portions defined in the flexible walls and positioned respectively adjacent the shoulder and the base. The gussets are adapted to fold outwardly from the shoulder and base as the container collapses.

  • Patent number: 4090541
Abstract: A flexible, collapsible container having walls essentially 0.01 to 0.03 inch thick and defining relatively thin lines of folding weakness in the container to facilitate flat collapse. The thickness of the lines of folding weakness is less than that of the surrounding walls. The cross-sections of the lines of folding weakness define arcs, the outer surfaces of which have a circumferential length which is 40 to 60 percent greater than the direct width of the lines of folding weakness. Preferably, the container is made of a relatively stiff polyolefin plastic such as polyethylene, polypropylene, or copolymers thereof of similar stiffness, particularly biaxially oriented materials.

  • Patent number: 4090183
Abstract: A housing contains a battery-operated alarm and a spring clip to hold a billfold to the housing. A plate is removably attached to the housing and functions to hold open a switch in the alarm's circuit. If a thief attempts to steal the billfold, the housing is separated from the plate, allowing the switch to close and sound the alarm. A control lever allows the owner to release the billfold when he wishes to remove it from the spring clip.

  • Patent number: 4088166
Abstract: A molded collapsible solution container which may be made from a tubular, plastic parison, defines the body portion having an integral neck portion and shoulder portion at one end thereof and is sealed at its end opposite the one end. In accordance with this invention, gusset portions are defined in the body portion adjacent the shoulder portion. The gusset portions include lines of flexing weakness to facilitate collapse of the container adjacent to the shoulder portion as the contents thereof are withdrawn.

  • Patent number: 4046276
Abstract: A protector cap for establishing a sterile seal over a port having a puncturable section in a container wall and a cylindrical neck portion projecting from the periphery of the wall section. The cap comprises a molded housing having a ring-shaped recess for sealingly engaging the neck member and a chamber formed at least in part within a compressible handle portion. The handle portion is compressed prior to inserting the cap on the neck portion of the port and is subsequently released to establish a partial vacuum in the chamber. The partial vacuum assists in retaining the protector cap in position and prevents trapped air from forcing the cap off during subsequent heat-sterilization of the container.

  • Patent number: RE32065
Abstract: A molded collapsible solution container, which is made from a tubular, plastic parison, defines a body portion having an integral neck portion and shoulder portion at one end thereof. The container is sealed at its opposite end. The body portion defines, in as-molded configuration, a generally oval cross-section taken perpendicular to the axis of the container, adjacent the neck and shoulder portion. The cross-section tapers progressively to a flat configuration at the end of the container opposite to the neck and shoulder portion, which facilitates a uniform manner of flat collapsing of the container progressively from the opposite end toward the end adjacent the neck and shoulder portion as the contents thereof are withdrawn through the neck portion, when the container is disposed in neck downward position.
