Publication number: 20150041063Abstract: A tape applicator to apply tape onto a vertical face of a carton with the tape roll mounted for rotation on a horizontal axis and including a tape deforming device position on a tape path between the tape roll and the point of application of the tape to the carton. The tape deforming device twists the plane of the tape through 90° from horizontal when leaving the tape roll to vertical for application to the vertical face of the carton. The tape applicator can adjust the position of the tape at the point of application to the carton vertically.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 6, 2013Publication date: February 12, 2015Applicant: LAMUS ENTERPRISES INC.Inventor: Joe Augustine LAM

Publication number: 20140094354Abstract: In general, the present invention comprises of a control unit with a tape applicator with operative members to selectively actuate sensors of a multiple sensor arrangement each of which is positioned to detect movement or position caused by a carton or the dispensing tape; specifically, the signal caused by the present of the carton; the movement caused by the dispensing tape as the carton being taped, and a further signal actuated based on the size (depletion) of the dispensing tape roll. The detected signals from the sensors are sent to a control unit with a multiple timing circuit or a preprogrammed micro processor with predetermined sequences and time values to generate and emit a correspond alarm signal based on the following control logics.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 2, 2012Publication date: April 3, 2014Inventor: Joe Augustine S.T. Patent number: 8393375Abstract: A commercial tape applicator capable of folding at least one side edge of a tape as it is fed to the applicator to provide an easily a gripped edge on the tape after it has been applied to the case. The invention provides a folding station on a dancer platform mounted on a dancer arm that has a nip roll at its free end and the arm is biased so that the nip roll is in contact with the periphery of a tape roll forming the source of tape and is usable to align the tape path through the folding station with the tape leaving the tape roll and accommodate deformation of the roll. A latch and cooperating cog wheel may be used to control the off feeding of the tape for the supply roll.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2010Date of Patent: March 12, 2013Assignee: Lamus Enterprises Inc.Inventor: Joe Augustine S. Patent number: 5938097Abstract: A method for dispensing a ribbon of tape from a roll by using guide and feed rolls to apply a significantly higher tension to the ribbon along the longitudinal central portion of the ribbon than along the longitudinal side edge portions of the ribbon so that forces tending to tear the tape adjacent to the side edges of the tape are significantly less than those normally applied in drawing a ribbon of tape from a roll whereby breakage of the tape is minimized.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 1997Date of Patent: August 17, 1999Assignee: Belcor Industries IncInventor: Joe Augustine Shing-Tak Lam

Patent number: 5775053Abstract: A case sealing system utilizes a parallel link mechanism with a built-in locking positioning system to support a case sealer such as a taper, gluer or stapler or the like at a selected height above a support table whereby the height of the sealer above the table may be readily adjusted to accommodate different height packages. Preferably, the system will also include a pair of easily adjusted side guides that are moveable to positions to center different width packages relative to the centre line of the sealer so that the equipment may be quickly and accurately be positioned to accommodate different sized packages.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1997Date of Patent: July 7, 1998Assignee: Belcor Industries Inc.Inventor: Joe Augustine Shing-Tak Lam

Patent number: 5735101Abstract: A tape applicator having a displaceable front contact roller movable from an extended position to a retracted position and a detector positioned on the tape applicator so that movement of the tape with the front roller relatively positions the detector and tape in sensing position wherein the detector may detect the presence or absence of a tape along a tape path leading to the front roller. The detector is only activated when the tape and detector are in the sensing positions permitting detection of the tape. This is preferably accomplished in a conventional tape applicator with a cutoff knife by mounting the detector on the cutoff mechanism so that both the detector and the tape are moved toward each other to assume the required relative positions wherein the detector can detect the tape and activate a warning system in the event no tape is detected. Also disclosed is a tape applicator having a detector to sense when the tape cutter has failed to cut the tape.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1996Date of Patent: April 7, 1998Assignee: Belcor Industries IncInventor: Joe Augustine Shing-Tak Lam
