  • Publication number: 20010022020
Abstract: In an exemplary embodiment, the apparatus includes a first station (32), a second station (34), and a third station (36). At the first station (32), raw magnetic material strip (24) is de-reeled from a stock reel (40) and a predetermined amount of the raw magnetic material strip (24) is fed and measured as the magnetic material strip (24) is transported to a winding mechanism (60). In the winding mechanism (60), the magnetic material strip (24) is continuously wound in and through an opening (22) formed in a bobbin (12) to form a wound transformer core. Preferably, a pair of bobbins (12,14) are used and the magnetic material strip (24) is continuously wound through openings (22) formed in each of the bobbins (12,14). After winding the predetermined amount of magnetic material strip (24) through the bobbins (12,14), the magnetic material strip (24) is cut at a predetermined measured location to produce a trailing edge (26) of material (24).

  • Patent number: 6256865
Abstract: A magnetic material is continuously wound in and through openings formed in a pair of bobbins to form a wound core of an electrical transformer by inserting the pair of bobbins into a cavity formed in a winding fixture, feeding the magnetic material into the winding fixture so that the magnetic material is fed into a circular winding action such that a leading edge of the magnetic material is continuously threaded into the openings formed in the pair of bobbins to form a wound transformer core, cutting the magnetic material to form a trailing edge, securing the trailing edge to underlying wound transformer core material, and shaping the wound transformer core to a predetermined shape.

  • Patent number: 6249204
Abstract: An apparatus for winding the magnetic core of an electronic transformer about a pre-formed wire coil, the apparatus comprising a first member, a second member, and a locking device for aligning and fastening said first member to said second member. The first member and the second member each further comprising a winding member, a first flange disposed at a first end of said winding member, and a second flange disposed at a second end of the winding member. A method of continuously winding a magnetic material onto a bobbin assembly to form a wound core of an electrical transformer is provided and comprises forming a bobbin assembly about a pre-formed wire coil, fixing a leading edge of the magnet material to the bobbin assembly, and rotating said bobbin assembly about the pre-formed wire coil to wind the magnetic material onto the bobbin assembly.

  • Patent number: 6104273
Abstract: In an exemplary embodiment of the invention, a calibration arrangement and process for use in a circuit protective device are presented. An exemplary calibration assembly for use in the calibration process of the present invention includes a split clamp arm having a first opening for receiving and holding a calibration pin and a second opening for receiving an actuator key. A portion of the split clamp arm is divided into a first arm and a second arm by a channel which extends from a first end of the split clamp arm through the first opening and communicates with the second opening. The split clamp arm is opened by inserting the actuator key through the second opening and because of the preferred oblong or rectangular shape of the second opening of the split clamp arm, rotation of the actuator key therein forces the members forming the first opening of the split clamp arm apart from one another.
