  • Patent number: 11828461
Abstract: A dew point corrosion resistant heat exchanging system having a plurality of hollow heat transferring tubes through which cooler ambient air or hot combustion product gases flow. The other of the air or gas flows across the outer surfaces of the tubes, and heat is transferred from the hot gases to the ambient air, thus heating the air. A portion of the tubes includes an inner liner forming an air pocket chamber between the liner and the outer wall of the tube. The air pocket chamber provides heat transfer advantages that maintain the tubes at a temperature above the dew point of the gases in the system, thus inhibiting corrosion of the tubes.

  • Patent number: 11490930
Abstract: A system and method for internal pelvic fixation. Guide wires can be inserted through guides and opposing sides of a pelvic bone, and can indicate a depth for driving bone screws into the pelvic bone. Offset rod tools positioned about each guide can assist in determining an offset distance between an implant rod and the pelvic bone. A template rod may be coupled to the offset rod tools and used to select a length for the implant rod. Clamps can be coupled to the bone screws, the clamps having multiple axes of rotation, the angular positions of the clamps being secured by the tightening of a single nut of each clamp. Joysticks used to tighten the nuts can be coupled to a reduction holder mechanism that can decrease at least an axial distance between the clamps, and thus pelvic bones, before locking of the clamps via tightening of the nuts.

  • Publication number: 20220226028
Abstract: A method of applying a bone plate across a tarsometatarsal joint or two different portions of a metatarsal may involve positioning a bone plate across a separation between two bone portions. The bone plate can have at least two fixation holes and a bend between the holes. A locking screw can be inserted through one or both holes that has a head thread and a shaft thread, where the shaft thread has a pitch greater than a pitch of the head thread. The locking screw can be screwed into an underlying bone portion until the bend in the bone plate is deformed.

  • Publication number: 20070270961
Abstract: The present invention provides spinal implants and systems which may be used for fixing a portion of the spine, such as the cervical spine, to allow correction or healing. One such spinal implant includes a body having at least one cavity therein. A barb is disposed within the cavity, with the barb adapted to rotate about a support member between a retracted position and a deployed position. In this manner, the barb may be selectively moved between desired positions, including the retracted and deployed positions. The retracted position may be used during insertion, removal, or repositioning of the implant between two vertebral bodies. The deployed barb position may be used for encouraging the barbs to engage the vertebral bodies to provide additional stability, promote fusion between the implant and vertebral bodies, hold the implant relative to the vertebral bodies, and the like.

  • Publication number: 20070270880
Abstract: The present application is directed to tools that may generally deflect a locking ring away from the fastener, and also engage a head of the fastener to rotate and remove the fastener from a vertebral member. The tools may include a first member that contacts and moves the locking ring away from the aperture 101. A second member engages the head and transfers torque to the fastener for removal from the vertebral member.

  • Publication number: 20060174895
Abstract: An orthopedic device to register and retain an anatomical position. The device includes a plurality of independently deformable members or one or more support members forming a contact area adapted to contact the body and conform to the anatomical position when placed in contact with the body. One or more adjustment members permit alteration of the contact area either to conform to a neutral anatomical position or to set a desired anatomical position. A locking mechanism is included to lock the adjustment members to retain the shape of the contact area after the body is removed from the contact area. The desired anatomical position may be repeatably established by placing the body in contact with the contact area having the retained shape. A reproducible reference datum may be used to replicate the desired skeletal orientation interoperatively.
