  • Patent number: 7810274
Abstract: A handle for a fishing rod is disclosed which provides increased sensitivity to vibration. In particular, the handle is formed from a plurality of cork rings and a plurality of sensor disks having a relatively higher flexural stiffness than cork, such as graphite rings. The principles of the present invention may be used with virtually any type of fishing rod handle, such as a handle with a reel seat for a bait caster reel; a handle with a reel seat for use with a spinning reel and a handle without a reel seat, also known as a Tennessee style handle and assembled to a rod blank to form a fishing rod. Since the handle is formed from both cork rings and sensor disks having a relatively higher flexural stiffness than cork, the handle in accordance with the present invention provides increased sensitivity to vibration relative to a cork handle while at the same time provides the same feel as a handle formed from cork that is not as brittle or susceptible to breakage as an all graphite handle.

  • Publication number: 20060159713
Abstract: The present invention provides pharmaceutical formulations of lyophilized bendamustine suitable for pharmaceutical use. The present invention further provides methods of producing lyophilized bendamustine. The pharmaceutical formulations can be used for any disease that is sensitive to treatment with bendamustine, such as neoplastic diseases.

  • Publication number: 20060041013
Abstract: Stable liquid formulations of the anti-tumor agent L-alanosine are described. These formulations preferably comprise L-alanosine in an aqueous environment having a basic pH, preferably in the range of about pH 8-9. The alanosine formulations and compositions disclosed herein can be used for various purposes, including the treatment of various cancers, particularly those that are deficient in methylthioadenosine phophorylase (MTAP) enzymatic activity. Also described are methods for the treatment of diseases susceptible to treatment with alanosine, e.g., certain cancers, particularly those characterized by tumor cells that are MTAP deficient, wherein a patient is administered L-alanosine, alone or as part of a combination therapy with a second chemotherapeutic agent.

  • Patent number: 6451241
Abstract: A sheet of uncured polymer, which is preferably reinforced with multiple layers of fiber, is staged or partially cured to a state in which the sheet is rigid at room temperature. Multiple apertures are drilled into, and preferably through, the sheet. The apertures are for acoustic or laminar flow control, and include holes having diameters in the range of 0.025 to 0.120 inch. In the case in which the fabricated panels must conform to a particular shape, the perforated, partially cured panels are heated to a temperature at which the panel softens, and conformed to the desired surface. The partially cured, perforated sheets are then cured. In order to prevent closure of the drilled holes during the cure, the perforated panel is sandwiched between two layers of glass fabric and cured on an elastomeric tool surface which expands with increases in temperature, forcing the glass fabric to seal the holes during cure. Release coatings are used to aid panel/liner separation.
