A patient interface presents instructions and status information regarding the performance of the regimen. The patient interface further presents a questionnaire soliciting responses to questions pertaining to current and past physical conditions of the patient. Selected responses to the questions cause the system to take actions, including preventing operation of a treatment apparatus by the patient, and/or transmitting an alert message to a clinician. The alert message may be transmitted within the clinician interface and/or as a real-time message outside of the clinician interface. A questionnaire is presented to the patient in response to occurrence of a triggering event pertaining to the patient's use of the treatment apparatus.

The clinician interface includes a patient profile display presenting historical data regarding performance of the treatment plan, and a protocol management display presenting controls for modifying a treatment protocol within the treatment plan. A treatment apparatus, such as a stationary bicycle, is used by the patient to perform the treatment protocol. A patient interface, such as a tablet computer, communicates information to the patient and receives feedback from the patient. A server stores data and coordinates operation of the system.
