Abstract: A nonwoven disposable safety garment made by cutting at least one sheet of nonwoven material into a safety garment pattern, stitching the at least one to defining a garment, and hemming the garment. All cut edges are twice folded and hemmed under to prevent exposure of any cut edges. All stitching is characterized by a stitch density in the range of 10 to 12 stitches per inch.

Abstract: A method for containerlessly packaging non-woven safety garments to minimize particulate shedding, including at least partially filling a pressing cavity of a orthorhombic parallelepiped shape with compressible, non-woven safety garments, applying isostatic pressure to the cavity to compact the garments into a compressed mass, wrapping the compressed mass and removing the compressed mass from the cavity. The wrapped compressed mass retains a substantially rectangularly parallelepiped-shape.

Abstract: A shoe or clamp assembly for securing a buffer stop or bumping post to railroad track with a predetermined magnitude of retardation against sliding movement of the buffer stop when the same is engaged by a moving railcar to be stopped. The shoe assembly which clamps against opposite sides of a buffer stop wall, and also clamps against opposite sides of a rail, is secured by at least one bolt and nut and also a spring stack so that a torque wrench is not required in order to effect such securement.

Abstract: An improved rail skate intended for mounting on the top of a rail, including an upwardly inclined ramp portion and an entry or toe portion whereby a wheel of an approaching railcar will roll up on top of the entry or toe portion and engage the ramp thereby stopping movement of the wheel relative to the rail skate and thereafter causing the rail skate to slide along the top of the rail until the railcar is ultimately stopped, the rail skate having a shoe element with a substantially V-shaped cross-section including a raised central portion and depending sides.

Abstract: A switch point guard for railroad track having a guard or deflector rail positioned to prevent flanges of railroad wheels from striking the switch point. The guard rail is carried on support members for rigid retention in a fixed, predetermined position relative to the track. By this invention the guard rail is carried by horizontally positioned guard rail plate means attached to the side of the guard rail. Apertures are defined in the rail plate means with chock plates positioned in the apertures. The chock plates each define an aperture off center in the direction perpendicular to the guard rail, with the support members defining attached projecting members occupying the off-center apertures. Accordingly, peripheral edges of the chock plates occupy different positions depending upon which side of the chock plates faces toward the rail track. Thus the predetermined position of the guard rail can be varied.

Abstract: A portable derail for installation on railway track to prevent a railcar or locomotive from passing beyond a fixed point, thereby protecting workmen and equipment against accidents, the derail being lightweight and portable so a workman can carry it from one location to another, and yet being designed to function effectively under severe loading conditions and resist any tendency to slide along the rail when subjected to impact.
