Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for generating labels to tag cables of a communications network. The includes creating a set of label records to be stored in a storage component; receiving search criteria for retrieving all or a portion of the label records; identifying at least one record in the storage component that corresponds to the search criteria; and providing a data stream that, when rendered by the printing device, produces labels displaying content of the identified records in a predetermined format. The system includes a user interface coupled to a storage component for receiving a search string to query the storage component for one or more records and a label controller that receives the query result and converts the result into a prescribed format whereby the query result can be rendered on a printing device.

Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) Data storage and retrieval in a networking environment. The method includes receiving an OTDR trace file in its native format that includes OTDR information, storing the trace file, receiving a request to present the OTDR information in a browser or some other interface, identifying a viewer that can render the OTDR information, and communicating the OTDR information to the browser. The system includes a user interface that facilitates uploading an OTDR trace file in its native format, a storage device for receiving the trace file, and a viewer that can render the data within the OTDR trace file.

Abstract: A method, system, and medium for presenting network-infrastructure information in an intuitive, easy-to-understand format is provided. The method includes retrieving data-routing information, retrieving equipment-location information, and then rendering on a map one or more line segments corresponding to the data-routing information and one or more equipment identifiers associated with said equipment-location information. A database is used to generate the map. This database is preferably a database that is also used to track communications pathways and equipment devices so that each map is dynamically generated from current data.
