    Abstract: The present invention relates to an electrical connector assembly including a male connector having a first plug body and a first electrical prong and a cooperating female connector having a second plug body with a cavity, a first electrical contact held in that cavity and a resilient shield received in the cavity. The resilient shield is displaceable from a first position covering the electrical contact and preventing intrusion of dirt and debris into the contact to a second position exposing the electrical contact for connection with the electrical prong.
