  • Publication number: 20120135261
Abstract: An Al—Zn—Si—Mg alloy coated strip that has Mg2Si phase particles that are?2 ?m and have a globular shape. A method of forming an Al—Zn—Si—Mg alloy coated strip comprises (a) heat treating a solidified coating to facilitate globularisation of Mg2Si phase particles in the coating and/or (b) changing the coating bath chemistry to form intermetallic compound phases that act as nucleation sites for Mg2Si phase particles with the result that small Mg2Si particles form on solidification of the coating.

  • Publication number: 20120088115
Abstract: Red rust staining of Al/Zn coated steel strip in “acid rain” or “polluted” environments can be minimised by forming the coating as an Al—Zn—Si—Mg alloy coating with an OT:SDAS ratio greater than a value of 0.5:1, where OT is the overlay thickness on a surface of the strip and SDAS is the measure of the secondary dendrite arm spacing for the Al-rich alpha phase dendrites in the coating. Red rust staining in “acid rain” or “polluted” environments and corrosion at cut edges in marine environments can be minimised in Al—Zn—Si—Mg alloy coatings on steel strip by selection of the composition (principally Mg and Si) and solidification control (principally by cooling rate) and forming Mg2 Si phase particles of a particular morphology in interdendritic channels.

  • Publication number: 20120030951
Abstract: Disclosed are shears are used for trimming bushes, trees, and brush. The loppers have the cutting blade which performs the cutting action and a counter edge for the cutting blade to work in conjunction. These loppers also have the addition of clamping jaws which will hold the severed limb. A user amputates a tree limb and the severed or orphaned limb falls helplessly to the ground, but these loppers clamp onto that limb when the cutting operation is performed. After the cut is made, the user can move the limb to a specific location, then decompresses the loppers and drop the limb as intended.

  • Patent number: 7934297
Abstract: A twist off tamper-proof fastener having an elongate flexible strap defining a plurality of parallel adjacent transverse teeth in opposing planar surfaces. First end portion of elongate strap is tapered to a rounded tip for insertion through a “T” slot defined in a dimensionally larger head portion carried at opposing end of the elongate strap. A fixed tooth and plural angulated teeth carried by a flexing arm irremovably engage with the teeth defined in the elongate strap. The head portion is elliptic with opposing spaced apart rounded ends and opposing planar sides to facilitate grasping and twisting by a user, and for identifying indicia. A circumferentially extending notch is defined in the elongate strap immediately adjacent the head portion. Twisting the head portion creates shearing forces that are focused at the circumferential notch breaking the fastener and allowing removal without tools.

  • Patent number: 7794452
Abstract: A surgical device for positioning a member and attaching the member within the patient. A first element comprises a shaft having a driver at distal end. A second element includes an internal bore extending through the length, and a coupler at a second end to attach to the member. The shaft is sized to fit within the bore with the driver end positioned adjacent to the member to affix a fastener. In use, the second element is attached to the member. The first element is inserted into the second element and may be used as a striking instrument to affix the member within the patient. The second element is then used as a guide for positioning a fastener relative to the member, and the driver of the first element is used to mount the fastener to the bone and attach the member.

  • Publication number: 20100021760
Abstract: A steel strip having a coating of an aluminium-zinc-silicon alloy on at least one surface of the strip is disclosed. The strip is characterised in that the aluminium-zinc-silicon alloy contains less than 1.2 wt. % silicon and also contains magnesium. A method of forming a coating of an aluminium-zinc-silicon alloy on a steel strip is also disclosed. The method includes moving steel strip upwardly through a coating pot containing a bath of an aluminium-zinc-silicon alloy and having an opening in a bottom wall of the pot and forming a coating of the alloy on the strip. The method is characterized by minimizing residence time of steel strip in contact with the aluminium-zinc-silicon alloy bath in the pot.
