  • Patent number: 10216864
Abstract: A computing device may be used to create a model that includes a block. The block may represent a function corresponding to a simulation and capable of operating in a fault operational mode. The computing device may also, or alternatively, associate a fault scenario, corresponding to the model, with the fault operational mode of the block. Additionally, or alternatively, the computing device may simulate the fault scenario based on the block diagram model.

  • Patent number: 9901256
Abstract: Methods and systems for detecting early stage dental caries and decays are provided. In particular, in an embodiment, laser-induced autofluorescence (AF) from multiple excitation wavelengths is obtained and analyzed. Endogenous fluorophores residing in the enamel naturally fluoresce when illuminated by wavelengths ranging from ultraviolet into the visible spectrum. The relative intensities of the AF emission changes between different excitation wavelengths when the enamel changes from healthy to demineralized. By taking a ratio of AF emission spectra integrals between different excitation wavelengths, a standard is created wherein changes in AF ratios within a tooth are quantified and serve as indicators of early stage enamel demineralization. The techniques described herein may be used in conjunction with a scanning fiber endoscope (SFE) to provide a reliable, safe and low-cost means for identifying dental caries or decays.

  • Patent number: 9311434
Abstract: A computing device may create a time based block diagram. The time based block diagram may comprise a ladder logic diagram and at least one block. The at least one block may correspond to at least one of a differential equation system or a difference equation system. The computing device may also execute the time based block diagram to simulate behavior of a dynamic system, device, or process. Executing the time based block diagram may include executing the ladder logic diagram and the at least one block. The computing device may further output results of the simulation of the behavior of the system, device, or process based on executing the time based block diagram.

  • Publication number: 20100279248
Abstract: A hand-held intra-oral dental device and method are described for the detection of pre-caries lesions and the prediction of evolution and prognosis of same. The present invention has as its foundation a low-cost tool for predicting the likelihood of the development of Early Childhood Caries (ECC), in contrast to other techniques and associated devices, where their focus is to identify individual pre-caries lesions. This method focuses on the detection of caries precursors or of their patterns and the relationship of those precursors and patterns to the likelihood of subsequent dental disease. The implications for the establishment for early preventive treatment are profound, namely the earliest implementation of preventative therapy for our approach relative to that of the other approaches.

  • Publication number: 20060043040
Abstract: The disclosed collapsible bookcase has generally rigid planar rear and side panels, and first couplings provided between them operable to pivot the side panels approximately 270 degrees between a collapsed condition with the side panels closely adjacent and generally parallel to the rear side of the rear panel and a set-up condition with the side panels angled normal to and forwardly away from the front side of the rear panels. Generally rigid planar shelves are pivoted by second couplings between the rear ends of the shelves and the rear panels operable to pivot the shelves approximately 90 degrees between a collapsed condition having the shelves adjacent and generally parallel to the front side of the rear panel and a set-up condition extended between the end panels and at different vertical spacings from one another. Supports between the end panels and shelves hold them in the set-up condition.

  • Publication number: 20050230188
Abstract: The disclosed portable sawhorse has a collapsible base formed of two side panels pivoted together, with a top rail having spaced end legs telescopically connected at U-shaped holders to one of the side panels for top rail movement between varied vertical spacings above the base. A latch pivoted to each holder is shifted between a position engaging the end leg for holding the top rail at selected spacings above the base and other positions allowing top rail movement. In the engaging position, the latch bottoms against the end leg with forces proportional to the top rail loads. Extenders carried on the top rail can be shifted to change effective top rail lengths. The side panel not carrying the top rail holders has upper edges that engage the top rail end legs operable to directly transmit via this side panel part of the top rail load.

  • Publication number: 20050132511
Abstract: This portable car ramp has two structural components coupled longitudinally together, while allowing limited relative vertical movement when each's bottom edge rest on a medium surface. The first component has an elevated wheel run while the second component has an inclined wheel run. When coupled together, the component wheel runs are longitudinally aligned, meeting at a corner, so that a vehicle wheel can roll up the inclined run, over the corner, and onto the elevated run, and vice-versa. Friction pads fixed to the second component bottom edge increase resistance against ramp sliding along the medium surface, particularly with the wheel supported on the inclined wheel run. The first component has no bottom edge friction pads so that car ramp sliding along the medium surface is possible, such as should the wheel be rolled against a stop on the elevated wheel run.
