  • Patent number: 11939789
Abstract: A railing support post with threaded holes or receivers for receiving threaded hardware, such as might be used for tensioned cable railing. A decorative sleeve or post cover may be used to at least partially enclose the railing support post. The railing support post may be manufactured, for example, by providing an elongated member of a prescribed length, drilling a plurality of holes spaced along the length of the elongated member, and tapping the plurality of holes to form a plurality of threaded receivers. The threaded receivers are configured to receive rail fittings or other fittings.

  • Publication number: 20230123977
Abstract: Methods and structures for securing a tensioned cable to a support post in a cable railing system. A threaded insert is inserted into the support post and a decorative cover placed over the support post. A cable-lock is partially screwed into the threaded insert and an end of the cable inserted into the cable-lock. The cable-lock is further screwed into the threaded insert to tension the cable. A further embodiment provides that a tensioning cartridge is loaded and placed in a support post, a decorative cover placed over the support post, an end of the cable inserted into a push-to-lock fitting of the tensioning cartridge, and a sprint-lock mechanism of the tensioning cartridge released to tension the cable.

  • Patent number: 10604942
Abstract: An anchor for a cable or rod includes a ferrule or other spring stop, to which one or more springs or arms are coupled. The spring stop may be attached to an end or other region of the cable to enable the cable to be tensioned against a support structure. The one or more springs or arms may be, for example, one or more coil springs, one or more conical coil springs, two or more cantilever springs, or one more arms. The anchor is twisted or pushed through a hole in the support structure from a first side to a second side and contacts the surface of the second side. A ferrule spring stop may be swaged to the cable or rod.

  • Publication number: 20160083975
Abstract: One or more posts of a railing system are held securely in place by a hidden tensioning cable that extends through a cavity of the post along a longitudinal axis and is tensioned to securely fasten the post securely to a surface of a structure. Placement of the tensioning cable through the cavity allows cable receivers to be placed at desired spacing in one or more receiver channels of the post, the cable receivers operable to receive cable rails of the railing system. Base plates for the posts are mounted to the surface using securing elements. When the railing system is assembled, the tensioning cable and the securing elements are hidden from view.
