  • Patent number: 5291882
Abstract: Intratracheal pulmonary ventilation is introduced to the distal end of an endotracheal tube by one or more intratracheal pulmonary ventilation tubes located in the wall of an endotracheal tube. The direction of flow of the intratracheal pulmonary ventilation is directed away from the distal end of said endotracheal tube, towards the proximal end of said endotracheal tube. The flow through the intratracheal pulmonary ventilation tube reduces the amount of carbon dioxide by replacing the gas located between the distal end of the endotracheal tube and the proximal end of the endotracheal tube where the endotracheal tube is connected to an artificial ventilation system.
