  • Patent number: 6718337
Abstract: A computer implemented apparatus captures data from a user into a form specified in accordance with a markup language such as hypertext markup language. The user selects a data type such as text, handwriting, voice, image and video data type to be captured. Once the user indicates the type of data to be captured, the apparatus enables a transducer associated with the selected data type to capture data. The apparatus also formats data from the transducer into a predetermined format, stores and displays the formatted data in the markup language form.

  • Publication number: 20030042313
Abstract: A method and system for acquiring bar code encoded information wherein a bar code is read using a portable bar code reader to produce bar code data which has a wireless communications transceiver for transmitting the bar code data. The bar code data is transmitted to a second bar code reader which has a wireless communications transceiver for receiving bar code data and has an output circuit for communicating bar code data by a cable to a host computer. The bar code data and additional bar code data produced by the second bar code reader is communicated by the cable or by a secondary wireless connection to the host computer.

  • Patent number: 6234394
Abstract: A system for reading indicia such as bar code symbols having a scanner for generating a scanning light beam directed toward a symbol to be read. A trigger manually displaceable from a first position to a second position produces a first light beam for aiming or positioning the reader. The trigger is automatically returnable, or held in the second position, or manually displaceable from the second position to the first position for initiating a scanning beam pattern for reading the symbol. A detector receives the reflected light from the symbol and produces electrical signals corresponding to data represented by the symbol.

  • Patent number: 5988502
Abstract: A wavelength selector in an optical scanner is operative for selecting a first laser beam having a predetermined wavelength to produce a first scan pattern, and for selecting a second laser beam having a different wavelength to produce a second scan pattern. • Patent number: 5859417
Abstract: An optical scanner such as a bar code scanner includes a segmented fold mirror, the individual sections of which have different profiles. By directing the scanning laser beam across the fold mirror, a plurality of scan lines are created, at different distances from the scanner. This provides increased flexibility by extending the scanner's working range. In alternative embodiments, a collector mirror and/or a scanning mirror may be segmented. In addition, beam shaping may be provided by reflecting the beam from one or more aplanar surfaces.
