  • Patent number: 9183704
Abstract: A gaming system for conducting a wagering game includes input device(s), display device(s), processor(s), and memory device(s). The memory devices store instructions that, when executed, cause the gaming system to receive a wager to initiate each instance of the wagering game, randomly select a game outcome for each instance of the wagering game, display the randomly selected game outcome for each instance, and initiate a special event in response to an occurrence of a triggering event during an instance of the wagering game. At least two of the randomly selected outcomes include a first special symbol that has a dynamic secondary element. The dynamic secondary element represents a first enhancement in a first instance and a second enhancement in a second instance of the wagering game. The triggering event and special event are associated with at least one special symbol. The special event is modified by the dynamic secondary element.

  • Patent number: 9177441
Abstract: A gaming machine for conducting wagering games comprises a plurality of reels, each reel having one or more reel symbols with a colored background and one or more reel symbols with a white background. The gaming machine may include a progressive game having multiple progressive jackpots that are awarded based on patterns formed by the reel symbols with the colored background in the outcomes of the wagering game. In some embodiments, a video display device is provided for overlaying a video image on the reels. The video image operates as a colored placeholder to hold any partial patterns that were formed by the reel symbols having the colored background for multiple plays of the wagering game. Reel symbols having the colored background appearing in subsequent outcomes of the wagering game may then be used to complete one or more patterns.

  • Publication number: 20150302686
Abstract: Gaming systems and methods include game-logic circuitry having central processing units and memory devices storing instructions that, when executed, cause the game-logic circuitry to receive an input, display an array and a graphical representation of a plurality of symbol-bearing reels within a field of view of a player, and award an award based on a generated game outcome. The symbol-bearing reels include a plurality of first symbols and a plurality of second symbols. In some embodiments, the first symbols are volumetric symbols and the second symbols are planar. In some embodiments, the first symbols and second symbols are volumetric symbols. Each symbol-bearing reel includes a surface defining a geometric plane with the volumetric symbols extending away from the surface while planar symbols lie on the geometric plane. Volumetric symbols near the array can be visible to the player while the planar symbols are not. Volumetric symbols can obscure adjacent symbols.

  • Patent number: 9123211
Abstract: A gaming system includes one or more input devices, one or more display devices, one or more processors, and one or more memory devices storing instructions. When executed by the one or more processors, the instructions cause the gaming system to receive, via at least one of the input devices, an input indicative of a wager selected from at least one wager amount being a function of a previous wager associated with an immediately preceding wagering game. The instructions cause the gaming system to display a wagering game on the one or more displays, the wagering game being in an advantageous state relative to the immediately preceding wagering game. The instructions further cause the gaming system to display an outcome of the wagering game on the one or more displays, at least a portion of the outcome being enhanced by an outcome of the immediately preceding wagering game.

In response to a base monetary award for a determined outcome exceeding a predetermined non-zero threshold, a rounding event is triggered. An offer to gamble a monetary amount that is at least the difference between the base monetary award and the predetermined non-zero threshold is displayed. In response to receiving a second input indicative of an acceptance of the offer to gamble, play of a gamble feature of the rounding event is initiated. In response to achieving a winning outcome in the gamble feature, a final award is awarded that is greater than the base monetary award. In response to achieving a non-winning outcome in the gamble feature, a final award is awarded that is equal to the base monetary award minus the monetary amount of the offer to gamble.
