Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for enhancing an individual subject's comprehension of unfamiliar written matter. The inventors here disclose that a suitable method involves physical manipulation of objects relevant to the written matter, such that the manipulation increases indexing by the subject of written words to the objects represented by the words. Increased indexing, which can be accomplished as described herein, facilitates the derivation of meaning from the written words and comprehension increases.
