Patent number: 11497274Abstract: Modular footwear and a method of manufacturing that uses pre-manufactured outsoles each with a plurality of clips that fit into recessed clip openings formed on the top surface of the outsole. Disposed over the outsole is a mid-sole pad with clip openings configured to be aligned and registered over the clips located on the outsole. Disposed over the outsole is a shoe upper with a plurality of hook members configured to attached to the clips located on the outsole. Disposed inside the shoe upper is air upper sole pad that covers the mid-sole pad. Because different shoe uppers may be used with the same outsole, footwear retailers only need to carry a limited number of outsoles and a wide selection of shoe uppers to offer a wide variety of different styles on footwear. Customers can purchase different shoe uppers and exchange them on the outsoles to create different styles of footwear.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2019Date of Patent: November 15, 2022Inventors: Joe Bentvelzen, Joel Rusnak

Patent number: 8613148Abstract: The present invention relates to a molded shoe featuring a three dimensional figure design (e.g., of an animal or character). The shoe has a sole having a bottom surface that comprises a series of projections and recesses that form a print of an animal or character, to thereby obtain an imprinting surface; and an upper, attached to the sole, having an outer surface that comprises a series of projections and recesses that form a three dimensional figure design. The sole and upper are substantially formed from molded plastic; the projections and recesses of the animal imprinting surface allow one wearing the shoe to make imprints on a soft surface, and the three dimensional figure on the outer surface of the upper relates to the print of the imprinting surface. The methods of the present invention further include making imprints with the bottom surface of the shoe.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2013Date of Patent: December 24, 2013Assignee: Polliwaks, Inc.Inventor: Joel Rusnak

Patent number: 5497564Abstract: A shoe construction employs straps formed of plastic material whereby separate areas of the shoe straps have different characteristics of elasticity, flexibility and rigidity. The construction of the strap provides areas connected to the shoe with greater elasticity and flexibility characteristics and a lesser rigidity characteristic than a second area of the strap that has greater rigidity characteristics and is connected to closure members of the shoe.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1993Date of Patent: March 12, 1996Assignee: Converse Inc.Inventors: Bernie Allen, Joel Rusnak, Aaron Azevedo, Neal Kimball
