  • Patent number: 9708980
Abstract: Various embodiments include apparatuses and systems for controlling compressor clearances. In one case, an apparatus includes: a material layer sized to fit a case of a gas turbine (GT) compressor in a GT system, the material layer including a heating element for applying heat to the case of the GT compressor; and a control system coupled with the material layer, the control system configured to: determine whether a shutdown sequence is occurring in the GT system; and actuate the heating element to apply heat to the case of the GT compressor in response to determining that the shutdown sequence is occurring.

  • Publication number: 20150051868
Abstract: A system for monitoring at least one rotating element is provided. The system can include a first sensor substantially aligned with a first rotating element, the first sensor being configured to detect a first marker on the first rotating element and thereby provide a first signal; a second sensor substantially aligned with a second rotating element, the second sensor being configured to detect a second marker on the second rotating element and thereby provide a second signal; and a measurement system coupled with the first sensor and the second sensor, wherein the measurement system is configured to: evaluate a time delay between a detection time of the first signal and a detection time of the second signal.

  • Publication number: 20140137536
Abstract: A super-telescoping cross-fire tube includes a cross-fire tube including a first portion and a second portion in mating engagement, the cross-fire tube extending from a first end region to a second end region for fluidly connecting a combustor chamber and an adjacent combustor chamber. Also included is an outer shield spaced radially outwardly and surrounding at least a portion of the cross-fire tube. Further included is a spring extending from proximate the first end region to the second end region and disposed between the cross-fire tube and the outer shield, wherein the cross-fire tube is telescopingly moveable between a first position and a second position.

  • Publication number: 20130101417
Abstract: A wind turbine rotor blade is disclosed that includes a body extending between a blade root and a blade tip. The body may include a pressure side and a suction side extending between a leading edge and a trailing edge and may define an outer surface. In addition, an ultraviolet light-reflective tape may be disposed on the outer surface of the body.
