Patent number: 10971857Abstract: A tool 202 for extracting a cable plug 112 from a socket 203 including a cable remover portion 206 which actuates and disconnects the cable plug 112 is described and claimed. Various implementations include a user statically or dynamically actuating and gripping the plug 112 and mechanically or frictionally gripping, or both, the plug 112. In one implementation, the cable remover portion 206 includes a ball detent 302 and catch tabs 320 which actuate the cable clip 208 and catch the cable head 210 so that the plug 112 is mechanically gripped. In another implementation, a translational ramp 800 is supported in the cable remover portion 206 so that a user dynamically moves the ramp 800, which actuates the cable clip 208 and the force of the ramp 800 and cable remover 206 together frictionally grips the plug 112.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2015Date of Patent: April 6, 2021Assignee: Level 3 Communications, LLCInventors: Joseph Nguyen, Joel S. Skoglund

Publication number: 20200068747Abstract: A flue device for use with a computer rack includes an elongate body having an open end and defining a ventilation channel. The flue device further includes a coupling feature adapted to couple the elongate body to the computer rack. When coupled to the computer rack, the elongate body extends in a substantially vertical direction with the open end extending upward and is positioned to cover each of the respective vents to receive air from the vents and direct the received air toward the open end.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 31, 2019Publication date: February 27, 2020Applicant: Level 3 Communications, LLCInventors: Joel S. SKOGLUND, Joseph NGUYEN

Publication number: 20180094751Abstract: A cable support device including a first member for supporting a cable above a floor and a support member for coupling with a safety cone. The first member may include a base portion, a first portion, and a second portion spaced apart from the first portion. The first portion and the second portion may extend upwards from opposite ends of the base portion. The support member may extend downward from the base portion of the first member and may include a bottom portion configured to couple with the safety cone.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2016Publication date: April 5, 2018Applicant: Level 3 Communications, LLCInventors: Joel S. Patent number: 9648785Abstract: A computing rack airflow directing system includes upper and lower rails configured for releasable attachment to a computing rack, and a flexible curtain suspended between the upper and lower rails at upper and lower edges of the curtain, respectively. The curtain is movable along the rails from a retracted position proximate a first end of the rails to provide access to one or more equipment modules mounted in the computing rack to an extended position to form a plenum for directing an airflow between the equipment modules and an airflow port. The airflow port is formed at either the upper edge or the lower edge of the curtain.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 2014Date of Patent: May 9, 2017Assignee: Level 3 Communications, LLCInventors: Joseph Nguyen, Joel S.
