Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for correcting a grammatical error in a text sequence. A first text sequence in a first language is received. The first text sequence is translated to a second language to provide a first translated text. The first text sequence is translated to a third language to provide a second translated text. The third language is different from the second language. The first translated text is translated to the first language to provide a first back translation. The second translated text is translated to the first language to provide a second back translation. A plurality of candidate text sequences that include features of the first back translation and the second back translation are determined. The plurality of candidate text sequences include alternative grammatical options for the first text sequence. The plurality of candidate text sequences are scored with the processing system.

Abstract: A food slicer has a deck defining a food prep surface and a blade oriented laterally across the deck. The blade has a cutting edge exposed on the food prep surface. The blade can divide the deck into a pre-slice deck and a post-slice deck. An elevation of the pre-slice deck can be user adjustable relative to the position of the cutting edge to selectively adjust a slice thickness produced by the food slicer. The food slicer can also have a safety mechanism with a blade guard positioned adjacent the cutting edge. The blade guard is movable between a blocking position blocking the cutting edge and a slicing position exposing the cutting edge.

Abstract: A food-grating system including a food container and a food grater. The food container includes a vessel and a lid, and the food grater includes a handle/frame assembly and a grater insert-panel. The handle/frame assembly of the grater mounts, by a coupling system including mating interlocking elements, to the vessel of the container for grating use. The lid of the container mounts, by a closure system including mating interlocking elements, to the vessel of the container for storage, whether or not the grater is also mounted to the vessel. And the grater insert-panel removably mounts, by a coupling system including mating interlocking elements, to the handle/frame assembly of the grater so that interchangeable insert-panels can be used for differing grating functions.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for providing a score for a spontaneous non-native speech response to a prompt. A transcription of the spontaneous speech response is accessed. A plurality of clauses are identified within the spontaneous speech response, where identifying a clause includes identifying a beginning boundary and an end boundary of the clause in the spontaneous speech response. A plurality of disfluencies in the spontaneous speech response is identified. One or more proficiency metrics are calculated based on the plurality of identified clauses and the plurality of the identified disfluencies, and a score for the spontaneous speech response is generated based on the one or more proficiency metrics.

Abstract: A cookware set has vessels with vessel indicia indicating size characteristics of the top openings of the specific vessels and has lids sized and configured to fit the top openings of the vessels. The lid indicia correspond to the vessel indicia making it easy for a user to match the correct lid size to a vessel selected for use.

Abstract: A cooking control unit for a kitchen-countertop appliance is configured to selectively engage the body of the appliance in operation and to selectively disengage from the appliance body for cleaning. The control unit includes an ejection mechanism that is operable to force the control unit away from the appliance body to cause the disengagement. The ejection mechanism can be related to a cooking selector configured to select a cooking parameter of the food to be prepared. For example, the ejection mechanism can include displacement members such as pins or cams and the cooking selector can include an ejection position. As the cooking selector is adjusted to the ejection position, the control unit is forced away from the body of the countertop appliance by the displacement members.
