  • Publication number: 20230039558
Abstract: The present invention relates to recombinant protein production in algal cells. In particular, the present invention provides methods for making recombinant polypeptides in association with accumulated lipid particles or chloroplasts. The methods involve producing the recombinant polypeptide as a fusion polypeptide with an oil body protein and the growth of the algal cells under non-homeostatic conditions to form accumulated lipid particles within the algal cells, wherein the algal lipid particles contain the fusion polypeptide.
    Type: Application
    Filed: April 29, 2022
    Publication date: February 9, 2023
    Inventor: Joenel ALCANTARA
  • Publication number: 20200172948
Abstract: The present invention relates to recombinant protein expression in algal cells. In particular, the present invention provides methods for making recombinant polypeptides in association with such chloroplast-associated oil body proteins such as caleosin or fragments thereof. In certain embodiments, the methods involve transformation of algal cells with a nucleic acid encoding a fusion protein comprising an oil body protein and a protein of interest and subsequently growing the algal cells under non-homeostatic conditions to induce accumulation of the fusion polypeptide in the chloroplast of said algal cells.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 9, 2018
    Publication date: June 4, 2020

  • Patent number: 7531325
Abstract: An improved method for recovering recombinantly produced polypeptides is described. The method involves expressing the recombinant polypeptide as a fusion protein with a pro-peptide. The pro-peptide-polypeptide fusion protein can be cleaved and the recombinant polypeptide released under the appropriate conditions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 19, 2002
Date of Patent: May 12, 2009
    Assignee: SemBioSys Genetics Inc.
Inventors: Gijs Van Rooijen, Joenel Alcantara, Maurice M. Moloney

  • Publication number: 20060233816
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of oil bodies as a vaccine adjuvant and delivery system for administration of vaccines by parenteral, mucosal (oral, nasal, pulmonary) and transdermal routes. In addition, the present invention relates to methods of eliciting an immune response in an animal by administering oil body-antigen complexes to said mammal. Finally, the present invention relates to methods of preparing oil body-antigen complexes.
