  • Patent number: 11696103
Abstract: A method of and a device for operating a service discovery and selection function in a telecommunications system, wherein the service discovery and selection function registers a service profile of a service provided by at least one service producer of the telecommunications system. The service profile among others includes consistency group information and proximity information. The consistency group information identifies instances of the service sharing a same state and the proximity information identifies deployment of the instances in the telecommunications system. The service discovery and selection function, from the service profile, based on service selection criteria, selects a single service instance of the service for a service consumer of the telecommunications system requesting the service, and identifies the selected service instance to the service consumer.

  • Patent number: 10956217
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and articles of manufacture are disclosed to trigger a scaling action for scaling an application having a set of one or more virtual machines (VMs). Virtualized Network Functions (VNF) are scaled by adding or removing resources to/from existing VMs. In an example method for triggering a scaling action for scaling an application having a set of one or more VMs, a threshold value is adapted based on an evaluation of a monitored system key performance indicator and a monitored external key performance indicator. The threshold value is used for triggering the scaling action. The scaling action is validated based on the monitored external key performance indicator.

Abstract: Arrangement (100) for causing a scaling of an application (200) having a set of one or more virtual machines (201-1 . . . 201 n), configured to adapt a threshold value (105-1, 105-2) for scaling the application (200) having a set of one or more virtual machines on the basis of an evaluation of a monitored system key performance indicator (202) and a monitored external key performance indicator (107 2).

  • Publication number: 20180046477
Abstract: A technique for scaling an application with a set of one or more virtual machines is described. The technique may be performed during runtime of the application and responsive to a determination that a scaling operation is required for the application. That determination can be based on at least one first performance measurement result for the application. A method implementation of the technique comprises calculating a scaling magnitude for the required scaling operation taking into account at least one second performance measurement result for the application. The scaling magnitude is indicative of a resource quantity to be added to or removed from the application. The method further comprises triggering generation of a scaling request. The scaling request is directed at a scaling of the application on the basis of the calculated scaling magnitude.
