  • Patent number: 7544383
Abstract: A method is described for large-area application of at least two, for example, electroluminescent layers onto a substrate. In a process step A), spacer (5) is structured on the transparent substrate in such a way that, upon application of a second functional layer (11), contact between a first functional layer (10) already applied on the substrate and a part of a printing machine responsible for the transfer of the functional layers onto the substrate is avoided. In two other process steps B) and C), the first functional layer (10) and the second functional layer (15) are applied over a large area, for example, through large-area standard printing methods.

  • Patent number: 7375461
Abstract: The invention relates to a passive matrix-driven display based on electroluminescent polymers having a structured matrix of pixels and a structured second electrode with electrode connectors, having the following features: the functional polymers are delimited by windows of an insulating layer and contact a first electrode structured in the shape of strips and a second electrode, running parallel to the first electrode and also strip-shaped, which is in contact with electrode connectors; additional windows are disposed in the insulating layer and are positioned over the electrode connectors for the second electrode, or areas of the insulating layer are disposed between the electrode connectors; an encapsulation is provided that covers the insulating layer with the functional polymers and the second electrode, but leaves one end of each electrode connector exposed.

  • Patent number: 7256541
Abstract: An organic layer (1) is applied to a transparent carrier (2) in such a way that different partial regions with different refractive indices are formed in the layer. Owing to deflection at the phase boundaries within the layer, fewer photons remain trapped in the layer as a result of wave-guiding losses than in the case of homogeneous layers.

  • Patent number: 6956645
Abstract: Apparatus and procedure for the in situ measurement of quantities of polymer printed onto supports A source of radiation 2 sends electromagnetic radiation onto a droplet 9, 10 of polymer solution or polymer dispersion, which is printed onto a support 4. A detector 3 measures the transmitted or re-emitted radiation. Controlled by a comparator device 6 and a control unit 5, the printing parameters are corrected in situ, if necessary. In this manner, a controlled adjustment of the layer thickness of organic light-emitting diodes and therefore luminosity and color perception can be achieved.

  • Patent number: 6939732
Abstract: The present invention relates to an organic, colored, electroluminescent display having the following features: between two strip-shaped structured electrodes running transverse to each other, there is a functional layer of electroluminescent polymers that are delimited by the windows (10) of an insulating layer (5), the functional polymers define pixels of different colors R, G and B for a matrix, strip-shaped ridges of at least one additional insulating layer (15 and 20 in the case of two layers), which structure one of the electrodes, separate pixels of the same color from pixels of different colors, where pixels of the same color are located between two adjacent ridges.

  • Patent number: 6864113
Abstract: According to the present invention at least one layer of an optoelectronic acting material, for example an emitter layer, is applied on a substrate (1) and subsequently dried in accordance with a method for the production of luminous diodes. At least one layer is set vibrating before it is completely dried. This step addresses trapped air and uneven surfaces of the layer.

  • Publication number: 20030174551
Abstract: A method is proposed for manufacturing organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs). While in conventional manufacturing methods, the color conversion layers are applied to a substrate without contact using ink-jet printing methods, printing methods that directly contact the substrate, specifically methods using a printing form, are now used. Flexographic printing and offset printing, for example, operate according to this technology.
