Patent number: 9673686Abstract: In an electronically commutated DC motor having a stator unit (5) and a rotor unit (1) which is in the form of an external rotor, and having stationary sintered bearings (8, 9), the invention proposes that the rotor unit (1) is conductively connected to the shaft (3) in order to connect a conductive shielding, which is formed on the rotor unit (1), to a defined electrical potential, and that the sintered bearing (8, 9) is conductively connected to the potential, so that the shielding of the rotor unit (1) is capacitively coupled to the potential by means of the electrically insulating, oil-filled bearing gap which is arranged between the shaft (3) and the sintered bearing (8, 9). Therefore, a sliding contact is not required.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2013Date of Patent: June 6, 2017Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Tobias Rothfuss, Michael Maelzer, Juergen Munz, Michael Hermann, Detlef Prahl, Siegmar Schoser, Joerg Brandes, Andreas Schiel, Tamas Banky, Zsolt Dudas

Patent number: 9233745Abstract: A seal apparatus, for sealing around a rotating shaft such as a propeller shaft of a watercraft between the exterior water and an interior lubricant space, includes a multiple seal arrangement with plural seal rings forming seal chambers therebetween, and plural fluid medium lines supplying and/or returning a respective fluid medium to a respective seal chamber. A section of a first medium line is formed as an axial passage through a housing of the apparatus, and a section of a second medium line is formed by a pipe arranged within the axial passage in the housing. A method of making such an apparatus especially by retrofitting an existing seal arrangement involves inserting a pipe into an axial passage in the housing in order to establish two medium lines through the housing where there was previously only one medium line.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 2014Date of Patent: January 12, 2016Assignee: SKF Blohm + Voss Industries GmbHInventors: Mathias Rusch, Joerg Brand, Marko Wrage, Nils Boettcher

Patent number: 9126668Abstract: A seal arrangement for sealing around a rotating shaft that passes through a ship bulkhead includes an expandible and contractible seal ring made of several seal ring segments, and radial actuators that engage the seal ring segments and can be power-activated, e.g. with a pressure medium, to pull the seal ring segments radially outwardly, thereby expanding the seal ring to a larger diameter spaced away from the shaft. When the radial actuators are not activated, the biasing force of springs contracts the seal ring segments to a smaller diameter, to establish sealing contact of the seal ring on the shaft. In normal operation a control unit activates the actuators, but if sensors detect a power failure or water in the ship, or a manual switching is triggered, then the seal arrangement contracts under spring force into the sealing condition with the seal rings sealing against the shaft.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2013Date of Patent: September 8, 2015Assignee: Blohm + Voss Industries GmbHInventor: Joerg Brand

Patent number: 8680584Abstract: A transistor device structured such that the bulk, gate, drain, and source are all accessible from all four edges of the device and such that current distribution is uniform over the device is provided. The transistor is created with a four-metal CMOS process. A bulk connection can be made with Metal 1, which is all around the device. A gate connection can be made with Metal 2, which is all around the device. Additionally, a drain/source connection can be made with Metal 3, which is all around the device. A source/drain connection can be made with Metal 4, which is all around the device. Source/drain connections are made with two or more evenly distributed via stripes to connect the source/drain parts of the transistor fingers. The transistor structure may be used to create an array of transistors for a high power output stage, with the transistors arranged in a checkerboard pattern. The connections of each transistor are automatic by abutting edges of the transistors.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2010Date of Patent: March 25, 2014Assignee: Dialog Semiconductor GmbHInventor: Joerg Brand

Publication number: 20030052566Abstract: The invention concerns a commutator (22; 22a; 22b) for a multi-pole commutator motor (14) having at least four stator poles (16-19) and armature coils (31-42) interacting with them that are electrically interconnected with two commutator bars (1-12) each of the commutator (22; 22a; 22b) to supply current, and the number of which said armature coils is greater than the number of stator poles (16-19), whereby, in order to reduce the number of brushes (20, 21; 23, 24) contacted by the commutator (22; 22a; 22b), armature coils (31-42) forming armature poles having an identical magnetic polarity are connected in parallel by armature-end, electrical bridge conductors (43-48). With regard for the commutator (22; 22a; 22b), it is proposed that the bridge conductors (43-48) are a component of the commutator (22; 22a; 22b). The invention further concerns a multi-pole commutator motor (14) having a commutator (22; 22a; 22b) of this type.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 3, 2002Publication date: March 20, 2003Inventors: Gerald Kuenzel, Joerg Brandes

Patent number: 6191516Abstract: An electric motor, including at least two permanent magnet segments disposed around a motor longitudinal axis, in which each permanent magnet segment has end faces extending in the direction of the motor longitudinal axis and is encompassed by two independent yoke ring segments that have a gap between them parallel to a symmetry plane extending through the motor longitudinal axis and the center of the permanent magnet segments in order to reduce the armature transverse field. In addition to the reduction of the armature transverse field, a weight reduction of the electric motor is also achieved. To this end, in a first region close to the end faces of the permanent magnet segments, the one-piece magnetically conductive yoke is provided with a larger cross section than in a second region close to the symmetry plane extending through the center of the permanent magnet segments. The construction is particularly suited for small electric motors, in particular d.c. motors that are excited by permanent magnets.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 1999Date of Patent: February 20, 2001Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Peter Froehlich, Joerg Brandes, Hans Kobschaetzky
