  • Publication number: 20070008310
Abstract: Methods, data processing systems and computer program products for automatically generating a display of an illuminated physical object on a video display unit of a data processing system are described. Pixels of a predefined model (8) of the object are selected. For each selected pixel (BP) a first light intensity (LI_BP—1) of the pixel (BP) resulting from a first illumination of the object and a second light intensity (LI_BP—2) resulting from a second illumination of the object are calculated. The two light intensities (LI_BP—1, LI_BP—2) are combined to yield a total light intensity (LI_BP_tot), which is transformed into an input signal (ES_BP) for the pixel (BP) processable by the video display unit. Using the pixels and their input signals, the display (9) of the object is generated, transmitted to the video display unit and displayed on the latter.

  • Publication number: 20060007227
Abstract: A method for automatically generating a three-dimensional display of an object on a display device includes generating at least three images of the object to be displayed. The three images show the object from three different observation positions. The three images are displayed in succession on a display device. The additional observation position is on a curve connecting the first and second observation positions. This curve may be an arc of a circle or a straight line, for example. An interval of time between the displaying of an image and the displaying of the next image is defined so that an observer perceives a smooth transition between the three images.

  • Publication number: 20050261882
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electronic design device having a data input device, a data processing device, an output device and a data memory holding a computer-processable surface model which describes the surface of a three-dimensional object. The design device is designed so that it generates a curve and displays it on the output device. This curve includes a fixed section and a freely movable section which is connected to the fixed section at a connection point. A partial section of the freely movable section is selectable based on information entered via the data input device. After receiving a fix command, the device projects a selected partial section in a predefined direction of projection onto the surface model and fixes this projected partial section. It joins the projected partial section to the fixed section to form an extended fixed section. The device automatically ensures that at every instant the fixed section of the curve generated extends across the predefined surface model.

  • Publication number: 20050256394
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electronic design device having an output device for displaying a graphic representation, a first and a second input device, and a data processing device. When information is entered via the first input device, a position marker moves on the output device. The device generates and displays on the output device a curve having a fixed section having a fixed path and a freely movable section between the fixed section and the position marker. The device generates the freely movable section so that the freely movable section and the fixed section together form a smooth curve. When information is entered via the second input device, the position of a curve marker located on the curve is shifted along the curve. If, when a fix command is received, the curve marker is located in the freely movable section, the device converts the partial section of the freely movable section between the curve marker and the existing fixed section into a further fixed section.
