  • Patent number: 7713385
Abstract: Apparatus and method for treating a material web, which has at least one nip through which the material web is guided and which is formed between a first revolving, heated surface and a second revolving surface, it being possible for the first surface to be heated to at least 120° C. and both surfaces in the nip having the same direction of movement as the material web. Good surface quality of the material web is obtained by providing a box which bounds a space through which the material web is guided, the space being arranged after the first or after the last nip in the direction of movement of the web.

  • Patent number: 7422659
Abstract: A method and an arrangement for treating a web (2) of paper or board is described, in which a functional coating (5) is applied to the web (2) and the web (2) is then calendered. It is wished to obtain a web provided with a functional coating in a cost-effective fashion. This is achieved through the following combination: the functional coating (5) is applied without direct contact, the web (2) is calendered online in conjunction with the application of the coating, calendering takes place in a broad nip (18) in a shoe calender (9), which exhibits a shoe roller (10) with a rotating outer cover (11) and a squeeze roller (14).

  • Patent number: 7287974
Abstract: A calender arrangement for calendering a material web, in particular a paper web, having a shoe roll and a mating roll, between which an extended nip is formed, through which the material web can be guided. The shoe roll includes a revolving shell, which is fixed to two rotatably mounted terminating elements arranged at the ends and can be loaded in the direction of the mating roll via a press shoe matched to the outside of the mating roll. The shell includes a radially inner base layer and an adjacent, radially outer functional layer. The base layer includes a resilient matrix material reinforced by embedded fibers, and the functional layer includes a matrix material with a lower fiber content than the base layer.

  • Patent number: 7179347
Abstract: A method for the preparation of fiber stock for the production of paper or cardboard, including the steps of: a) Supplying fibers in the form of a suspension that has a predetermined solids content, b) Loading of the fibers with a precipitation product, without refining the stock, c) Refining of the fibers after completion of the loading process, in order to improve the freeness value and/or to alter the fiber characteristics, and d) Transporting of the fiber stock suspension in direction of the paper machine.

  • Patent number: 7169258
Abstract: A device treats a fiber stock suspension with at least one additive, the fiber stock suspension being used for production of at least one of paper and cardboard. The fiber stock suspension includes a suspension medium and a fiber material. The fiber material has fiber surfaces, the fiber surfaces being moistened by the suspension medium. The device includes a fluffer having an inlet for receiving at least one of the fiber stock suspension and the at least one additive. The fluffer is coupled to the inlet, the fluffer being configured for separating the fiber material and enlarging a specific surface of the fiber surfaces.

  • Patent number: 6881298
Abstract: For a process and an apparatus for loading fibers contained in a pulp suspension with calcium carbonate, a calcium oxide and/or a medium containing calcium hydroxide is fed to the pulp suspension, and the so treated pulp suspension is further charged in several reactors with pure carbon dioxide or a medium containing carbon dioxide. The reactors can be connected in series and/or in parallel.

  • Publication number: 20040154771
Abstract: A method and a device for loading of fibers that are contained in a fibrous suspension, with a filler by way of a chemical precipitation reaction. A fibrous suspension is supplied to a pump disperger where it is treated by shear forces in order to break down larger fiber agglomerates into smaller ones, and/or into individual fibers. At the same time the pump disperger serves as a reactor for the chemical precipitation reaction.

  • Patent number: 6537425
Abstract: During the chemical process of loading with calcium carbonate fibers contained in a pulp suspension, a medium containing calcium oxide or calcium hydroxide is added to the pulp suspension. This treated pulp suspension is charged in at least one reactor with pure carbon dioxide (or a medium containing carbon dioxide), which, during the progression of the reaction, converts at least a significant portion of the starting materials (calcium oxide and/or calcium hydroxide and carbon dioxide) into the reaction products, calcium carbonate and water. This reaction is accomplished by properly controlling the pulp suspension's pH.
