  • Publication number: 20050224676
Abstract: A cup-holder, preferably for integration into the center console of a motor vehicle, comprising a housing and a tray held therein which can slide in and out of the housing for accommodating at least one container, such as a cup or a bottle. The housing and tray are arranged so that the tray can be swiveled from an extended, horizontal in-use position to an approximately vertical non-use position by overcoming a resistance.

  • Patent number: 6196574
Abstract: A covering for an air bag retaining device of a motor vehicle with a vehicle body, having a lid which, after the air bag retaining device is triggered, is pushed open by an air bag toward the motor vehicle interior. The lid is held by at least one hinge strap connected with the lid at least along a section of its opening movement on a defined moving path with respect to the vehicle body. The hinge strap is mounted to a body-fixed fastening point on the motor vehicle and on the lid. Prior to deployment of the air bag, the hinge strap extends between the air bag retaining device and the lid to an outlet point or to a mounting point on the lid. The outlet point or mounting point, viewed essentially in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, is situated on a half of the lid farther removed from a windshield on a side of the lid facing away from the motor vehicle interior.

  • Patent number: 6189918
Abstract: An air bag is provided which extends from the front seats to the rear seats of a passenger car, is constructed in the manner of a cushion and is fastened to the roof member as well as to at least one fastening point respectively of the A-column and of the C-column of the vehicle body. In order to be able to arrange the air bag in a non-inflated condition along the roof member, the air bag is folded essentially along a connection line of the two fastening points on the vehicle body columns, and at least two recesses cut by the connection line are provided in the cushion surface of the air bag.

  • Patent number: 6079735
Abstract: An inflatable lateral head protection system of a passenger car, having an air bag which, via its end sections, is fastened to suitable points, particularly to the A-column as well as to the C-column. In the non-inflated condition, the air bag is covered following the course of the roof member between the A-column and the C-column. Various alternatives are provided for fastening the air bag on the roof member and for the covering. Either separate covering parts may be provided, they may form a preassembly unit together with the air bag, or the headlining of the vehicle interior may be constructed correspondingly in order to accommodate the air bag which is fastened, for example, via a VELCRO.TM. fastener system, to the roof member and which may be situated in a protective hose.

  • Patent number: 5988673
Abstract: An inflatable head protection system has an air bag which is provided at least partly along a member or a column of the vehicle body in the non-inflated condition following its course. This air bag is held by a separate deformation element which is constructed as a shaped sheet metal part having at least one deformation curvature, in which case the air bag is housed essentially between the deformation element and the member/the column. An optimal protection is therefore ensured in the static as well as in the dynamic case.

  • Patent number: 5876061
Abstract: Knee protection system for the front passenger in a passenger car, having a glove compartment which is arranged below the dashboard or the cross tube, which is constructed as a hinged compartment and can be swivelled about an approximately horizontal axis and is provided with a latching device in the area of its free edge. Above the hinged compartment, a dimensionally stable hood is arranged which can be swivelled together with the hinged compartment. The hood is provided with a locking element which interacts with the latching device of the hinged compartment. In the area of the free edge, the hood is connected by means of tear-off elements with the dashboard. An air bag module is stationarily arranged above the hood behind the dashboard. A dimensionally stable element is connected with the dashboard and is used as an upper support for the inflated air bag, while the top side of the hood is used as the lower support.
