Abstract: The invention relates to the machining of cutting (stamping) edges which are etched photochemically out of a carrier base and by means of which labels consisting of label material adhering releasably to a supporting web are to be cut (stamped) as a result of the rolling of the cutting edges of the label material, wherein the cutting edges are given a triangular cross-section having fluted sides by milling by means of a frustoconical milling cutter engaging the longitudinal sides of the cutting edges and rotating about its axis. The invention also relates to cutting edges obtained by the process.

The sleeve is bent from a flat steel sheet having mutually facing edges which are joined to each other and having an external surface which is provided with punching bridges formed by etching the steel sheet. The bridges are preferably sharpened in a knife-like fashion.

The process includes the steps of applying a photoresist layer to one side of a metal sheet in planar form; exposing the photoresist layer through a film having a pattern corresponding to the relief; developing the metal sheet by removing unexposed parts of the photoresist layer; bending the metal sheet into sleeve form around a roll such that exposed parts of the photoresist layer face outwardly; etching unexposed regions of the metal sheet down to a predetermined depth; removing the exposed parts of the photoresist layer from the metal sheet; connecting mutually facing edges of the metal sheet; and fastening the metal sheet to a die roll.

Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for the removal of areas of material punched out from a material in sheet form by projecting, closed punching edges on the circumferential surface of at least one rotating punching cylinder by means of compressed air, which is fed into the punching cylinder and led out from the punching cylinder through outlet openings lying within the closed punching edges, wherein the compressed air from an opening in a side face of a member at least partially embracing the punching cylinder in a guided manner is fed to inlet openings assigned to the outlet openings, which inlet openings are located in a side face of the punching cylinder closely adjacent to the side face of the member.
