  • Patent number: 9388848
Abstract: A radial gas foil bearing extending along a rotation axis including a carrier element provided with an opening extending along the axis, further including at least one foil extending circumferentially along a radial inner side of the opening of the carrier element, wherein the foil is attached to the carrier element is provided. In order to enable an easy manufacturing as well as safe operation it is proposed to provide at least one radial through hole in the carrier ring, wherein at least one fixation section of the foil is formed to be inserted into the through hole, wherein the fixation section and the through hole are made such that fixation section becomes by insertion into the through hole accessible from radial outside of the carrier element to be fixed to the carrier element.

  • Publication number: 20120201701
Abstract: A centrifugal compressor is provided. The centrifugal compressor includes a plurality of diffuser vanes arranged in a circumferentially spaced array about a machine axis. Each diffuser vane is mounted on a respective shaft. Each of the shafts is coupled to a ring that is rotatable about the machine axis. A worm drive is provided that includes a worm that meshes with a worm gear or a segment of a worm gear mounted along a portion of the circumference of the ring. A step motor is coupled to the worm. The step motor is operable to rotate the worm about a worm axis perpendicular to the machine axis, such that the worm drive transmits rotational torque from the step motor to the ring, to resultantly vary the position of the diffuser vanes.
