Abstract: The invention relates to a swimming pool cleaner. The swimming pool cleaner comprises a pool cleaner body comprising a conduit with an inlet end and an outlet end. The conduit defines a flow path through the body. The body is connectable to a water source from which a water stream can be directed through the conduit. The swimming pool cleaner further comprises a receptacle which is connected to the body and has an inlet opening outside the conduit. The inlet opening of the receptacle is directed or faces in an operatively upstream direction towards the inlet end of the conduit. The receptacle defines a receptacle pocket for receiving solid material which enters the inlet opening of the receptacle.
