Abstract: In a wiper blade assembly, a spacer is provided for rotatably connecting two yokes of a wiper blade. The spacer has substantially the form of an inverted U provided with first members securing the spacer rigidly to a first yoke and provided with second members rotatably securing the spacer to a second yoke. The first members are rigidly secured to the web of the inverted U with the second members rigidly secured to the two flanges of said inverted U.

Abstract: A pivot connection is provided between two yokes of a wiper blade or between a wiper arm and one yoke of a wiper blade wherein the cross-section of a first metallic yoke has substantially the form of an inverted U and has at least one transverse pivot pin formed from a tongue cut in the web of said first yoke. A second yoke has an attaching element capable of cooperating with the transverse pivot pin and comprises an open cylindrical seat surrounded, parallel to its longitudinal axis, by one or more hooks capable of maintaining the second yoke rotatably attached to the pivot pin of the first yoke. The attaching element may be integrally formed with, snap-fitted on or moulded to the second yoke.

Abstract: In a connector (14,15) for connecting a wiper arm to a wiper blade, a pair of spaced apart attaching means (16,17) are provided for alternately attaching the connector to the wiper blade. Appropriately dimensioned slots (22a,22b) and surfaces (31,32,33,34,35,36,37,40,41) are provided on the connector to cooperate with bayonet-type arm ends (3a,3b) and hook-type arms ends (1a,1b, 2a,2b) for securing the appropriate arm end to the connector. One connector (14,15) is capable of accommodating at least six different arm ends.

Abstract: A connecting device for attaching a windshield wiper blade to at least two different types of wiper arms is provided. The connecting device seats on a cross pin of the wiper blade and has a unique opening therein for receiving one of several different style pivot pins. Each pivot pin may be inserted on either side of the connecting device and has a projecting portion for attaching an appropriate wiper arm thereto. Each pivot pin has a unique end portion for attaching the pin in the unique opening in the connecting device.

Abstract: A connector or adaptor is provided for connecting a windshield wiper arm (1) to a superstructure (5) of a windshield wiper blade. The arm end has aligned bores (2) and a spring clip (3) for securing the arm to a pin on a blade. The connector or adaptor is a one or two part member (10, 11, 23, 32, 42) which is secured to a rivet (7) on the blade and has laterally located, sidewardly extending pins (21) for engagement with the arm end or has vertically located, sidewardly extending pins (31, 41) for engagement with the arm end.

Abstract: An adaptor (30, 130, 230, 530, 630) is provided for connecting different style windshield wiper arm ends (20, 120, 220, 220A, 320, 420, 520, 620) to a cross-pin-type wiper blade (25) using the same principle of operation for locking the different style arm ends to the adaptor (30, 130, 230, 530, 630) prior to assembling the adaptor on the blade (25). A latch member (45, 145, 245, 545, 645) carried by a leaf spring (41, 141, 241, 541, 641) engages with and retains any one of several different style arm ends (20, 120, 220, 220A, 320, 420, 520, 620) on the adaptor (30, 130, 230, 530, 630) with another latch member (44, 144, 244, 544, 644) dependent from said leaf spring (41, 141, 241, 541, 641) which cooperates with the cross-pin (26) of the cross-pin-type blade (25) to prevent the latching member (45, 145, 245, 545, 645) from releasing the arm end (20, 120, 220, 220A, 320, 420, 520, 620) when the adaptor (30, 130, 230, 530, 630) is assembled on said cross-pin (26).

Abstract: An adaptor (60,160,260,360) is provided for connecting two different style arm ends (41,42) to a crosspin-type blade (43). The adaptor includes three latch or blocking means (63,163,263,363; 70,170,270, 372; 72,172,272,372) with the first latch or blocking means (63,163,263,363) having a constricted opening (64,164,264,364) facing forward or rearward of the adaptor (60,160,260,360) for snap-fitting over a crosspin (44) of the blade (43). The second latch or blocking means (70,170,270,372) includes a flexible member (66,166,266,373) located on a body (61,161,261,361) of the adaptor (60,160,260,360) to engage in an opening (48) in the hook end of a first style arm (41) when said hook end encircles the body (61,161,261,361) of the adaptor.

Abstract: A windshield wiper construction adapted to provide for longitudinal sliding or shifting movement between the wiper element and associated flexor member relative to the associated superstructure and wiper arm, whereby to accommodate for variations in windshield curvature. The construction may be fabricated of a one-piece monolythic structure, thereby obviating the need for various connecting links and the like which have been utilized in the prior art and thus simplifying the fabrication, construction and assembly time and expenses to the extreme.

Abstract: A wiper arm assembly is disclosed for use in operative association with a wiper blade and is adapted for typical, although not exclusive, application on vehicular windows, such as windshields, and rear and side windows. The wiper arm assembly of the present invention is operated by means of a drive motor which is located directly within the arm itself and is controlled by a plurality of electrical switches associated with a source of electrical energy, such as the vehicle battery. The assembly comprises inner and outer arm sections which are pivotably connected to one another and the aforementioned electrical switches are controlled by relative pivotal movement between the arm sections. One of the switches in the arm assembly functions to reverse the polarity of the electrical energy supplied to the drive motor, whereby to cause reverse rotation on the output shaft thereof and hence provide for oscillatory or reverse pivoting movement of the arm assembly.
