    Abstract: A method for optical measuring of the solid substance content in a fluid uses periodical flushing of an optical sensor (1) with a combination of pressurized air and water in the form of a jet. The jet exerts a very powerful cleaning effect without causing scratches on measuring surfaces of glass or similar materials. The invention also relates to a system for performing such flushing in connection with measuring.
