  • Publication number: 20130078379
Abstract: A method of increasing white etching cracks robustness of a roller bearing. The method comprises the steps of heating the roller bearing to a temperature of between 100° C. and 200° C. for a duration of time between 5 minutes and 2 hours while bringing the bearing raceway surface in contact with a chemical additive and forming a white layer on a bearing raceway surface of the roller bearing and/or a material zone at the bearing raceway surface which has a lower yield point or yield stress than the original material of the roller bearing.

  • Patent number: 6623388
Abstract: A system for adjusting the tension of a continuous part of a continuously variable transmissions; which is adjustable preferably with respect to its transmission ratio, the continuously variable transmission being mounted together with a vehicle engine and at least one clutch and a vehicle engine in the drive train of the vehicle, the clutch having various operating states. The essence of the invention is the adjustment of the tension at least in dependence upon the operating state of the clutch. The adjustment of the tension of the continuous part is especially advantageous when it is undertaken in dependence upon whether an adjustment of the transmission ratio of the continuously variable transmission takes place toward higher transmission ratios or to lower transmission ratios. Furthermore, the adjustment of the tension can take place in dependence upon the activation of an ABS system, ASR system and ESP system.

  • Patent number: 6050913
Abstract: A system for adjusting the tension of a belt of a belt transmission provides a higher accuracy of the estimate of the engine torque, which is to be expected, and therefore a better proportioning of the tension is obtained. For this purpose, signals are made available from the engine control which controls the internal combustion engine. These signals make possible a precise estimation of the engine torque. In a first embodiment, this signal can, for example, be an estimated value for the engine torque to be expected. The estimated value is, for example, formed in the engine control. In a second embodiment, these signals can be the quantity of air mass inducted by the engine (that is, the signal derived therefrom) and the ignition angle of the engine. The tension of the belt can be reduced by the more accurate estimate of the engine torque so that an improved transmission efficiency results.

  • Patent number: 5344370
Abstract: Transmission for motor vehicles, more particularly a transmission which is provided with a reversing unit making use of a planetary coupling (1), whereby said planetary coupling (1) consists of a first shaft (2), a planetary support (3) mounted on this first shaft (2), planet wheels (4,5) mounted on this planetary support (3), a sun wheel (6) co-operating with the planet wheels (4,5), a second shaft (7) coupled to the sun wheel (6) and a ring wheel (8) co-operating with the planet wheels (4,5), and wherein the planetary support (3) and the ring wheel (8) of the planetary transmission (1) are provide of means which allow that, upon choice, either the ring wheel (8) can be locked against rotation or the planetary support (3) can be coupled to the sun wheel (6), characterized in that at least one bearing (9) is provided between the ring wheel (8) and the planetary support (3) which provides in a radial bearing between the ring wheel (8) and the planetary support (3), and in that said bearing (9) and the planet w
