    Abstract: The method transmits compressed data in packet-oriented networks. Before data packets are forwarded to a second network node device, a first network node device is used to check a compression state for the data contained in the data packets. In addition, a database entry characterizing the second network node device is evaluated. Message header entries in the data packets are modified on the basis of the characterizing entry and on the basis of the presence of the compression state.
