  • Patent number: 4691616
Abstract: The invention relates to a tracking radar (17) rigidly connected to the fire tube (11) of a gun and controlling the set motors (14) of the gun in order to, after locking onto a target, cause the radar axis and thereby the axis of the fire tube (11) to follow the target. The invention the tracking radar (17) is contained in a protection envelope (20) which is fixedly mounted on the elevation system (12) of the gun and which at the front end in the fire direction is closed by a radome (21). The protection envelope (20) and radome (21) are dimensioned so as to withstand the forces arising at fire, in particular to prevent the compression waves then arising from deforming the antenna of the radar (17). The accuracy of the radar will thus be substantially maintained during firing of the gun.

  • Patent number: 4558325
Abstract: The invention relates to a bi-axial support of a rotatable body in a projectile for supporting said body such that it can perform small tilting motions about two mutually perpendicular axes lying in a plane, which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the projectile. The support consists of a spherical or partly spherical bearing body introduced into a correspondingly spherical cup-shaped recess in a projectile-fixed part having the open end directed forwards in the motion direction of the projectile. The spherical bearing body is retained in the recess by means of two pairs of link arms defining two virtual tilting axes for the bearing body and connected to two output shafts such that a tilting motion of the body about the respective virtual axis results in a rotation of the respective output shaft and vice versa.

  • Patent number: 4353603
Abstract: A bearing device for the rotatable journalling of a first body relative to a second body. The bearing device comprises a bearing, e.g. a ball bearing, having a first bearing ring which engages said first body, and a second bearing ring which cooperates with said second body. As a consequence of different operating temperatures, displacements can occur between said bodies and the associated bearing rings, thereby changing the character and accuracy of the bearing. This problem is solved by making said first body engage the associated first bearing ring by means of a spring element comprising a ring-shaped portion and longer and shorter radially directed spring arms which are distributed around the periphery of the portion. The longer spring arms extend beyond the first bearing ring and the end faces thereof are fixed axially as well as radially with respect to the first body.

  • Patent number: 4134115
Abstract: Disclosed is a device for spreading chaff payloads for radar interference comprising a cartridge having a number of oblong cells in which chaff bundles may be displaced towards the output end of the cartridge. The cells are arranged as units each having a displacement mechanism which is selectively operable. Each unit may be shaped as a self-supporting module preferably having three tube-shaped cells.
