  • Patent number: 8929959
Abstract: In a method for receiving data in a mobile communication device in a broadcast system in which an amount of data is transmitted; said mobile communication device comprising a battery; wherein the method comprises the step of receiving a part of said amount of data, wherein the method further comprises the step of determining said part of said amount of data based on a charge state of the battery. In this way, the mobile communication device is able to download/receive an amount of data in dependence to an actual condition experienced by said mobile communication device. A condition of the mobile communication device may, in this context be, for example, a reception condition, a power consumption condition, a battery capacity condition, or a battery charging condition.

  • Patent number: 8315629
Abstract: A base station reduces interference from user equipment operating in a neighboring cell by monitoring one or more channels of neighboring base stations to receive a signal transmitted by a user equipment that is being served by one of the neighboring base stations, and detecting when a power level of the signal transmitted by the user equipment exceeds a threshold power level. The base station then uses the received signal transmitted by the user equipment to acquire an identifier of the user equipment. The base station then communicates with a network node of the mobile communication system to arrange for it to serve the user equipment itself but in only the uplink direction. The neighboring base station continues to serve the user equipment in the downlink direction in what is now an asymmetrical uplink/downlink connection.

  • Publication number: 20100240374
Abstract: A method for reducing the risk of dropped calls in a mobile communication network, wherein secondary connection information is sent to a mobile station during an event via a first communication link using a first radio access technology; it is detected when the mobile station makes a new connection on a second communication link specified in the secondary connection information; and packets for the mobile station from the first communication link are rerouted to the second communication link.

  • Publication number: 20090006327
Abstract: Locating potential licensees and infringers of a patent or other intellectual property can be facilitated by determining whether someone other than the property owner is trying or has tried to patent the same or related subject matter. For example, if an applicant files a patent application but does not respond to an action or other patentability opinion by a patent office that cites prior art references, then it can be presumed that one or more of the cited references must be of interest for the applicant, and vice versa with respect to the owners of the cited references. References cited and, if desired, whether an applicant has responded to a patent office's patentability opinion can be determined from patent data publicly available in computer databases maintained by many patent offices around the world.
