  • Patent number: 6894993
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide various methods for detecting a spatial division multiple access (SDMA) channel swap. A first SDMA communication channel is assigned to a first user terminal that initially transmits its signal over the first SDMA communication channel. A second SDMA communication channel is assigned to a second user terminal that initially transmits its signal over the second SDMA communication channel. The first user terminal's signal and the second user terminal's signal are analyzed to determine that the first user terminal is transmitting its signal over the second SDMA communication channel and the second user terminal is transmitting its signal over the first SDMA communication channel.

  • Publication number: 20040141478
Abstract: An embodiment of the invention provides a method for effecting switchback on a spatial division multiple access (SDMA) PHS channel. A communication signal is broadcast over each of one or more SDMA channels of a multi-access channel to one or more corresponding user terminals. A set of transmit spatial weights is determined for a synchronization burst to a user terminal attempting to reestablish communication over an SDMA channel of the multi-access channel. The set of transmit spatial weights is determined such that interference caused by one or more communication signals to the synchronization burst is reduced.

  • Patent number: 6656038
Abstract: A combine harvester includes a device for discharging husks, the husk discharging device having at least one fan rotatably mounted in a fan casing, the fan casing having at least one husk discharge opening, a device for chopping straw arranged downstream of the husk discharging device, the straw chopping device having a rotating cutting rotor in a rotor casing for chopping straw, the rotor casing having an inlet for unchopped straw and an outlet for chopped straw, and a control device arranged between the husk discharging device and the straw chopping device, the control device being movable between a first position in which the control device closes the inlet of the rotor to bypass the straw chopping device and a second position in which the inlet of the rotor is open to allow chopping of the straw.

  • Patent number: 6585834
Abstract: A method of performing a heat treatment on steel rings, in particular for bearings, whereby the outer surface and inner surface of a preheated ring are exposed to different flows of a cooling medium such that the regions of the ring adjacent those surfaces are subjected to different cooling processes. The flow supply of the cooling medium is controlled in such a way that a desired internal stress pattern is obtained in the ring. The cooling medium includes of a combination of liquid and gas. An apparatus for performing a heat treatment on steel rings includes a support means for a ring to be treated; first and second supply means for supplying a spray or mist of a liquid, gas or combination thereof to the outer surface or inner surface of the ring, control means for controlling the supply of the spray or mist is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20020166097
Abstract: A method is presented comprising identifying a weak component in a wireless communication link, instructing a transmitter of the weak component to invoke repetition coding, and selectively combining signals received via multiple antennae on multiple channels to recover information contained in the transmitted signal.

  • Patent number: 5803616
Abstract: A taper roller bearing comprises an inner ring and an outer ring having tapered raceways, a bearing space in which tapered rollers are arranged, as well as a cage for mutually spacing the rollers. A grease retainer is connected to the outer ring. The grease retainer is situated next to the inner ring part having the smallest raceway diameter. The retainer comprises a ring-shaped channel in the inner space of which grease can be accommodated. The channel has apertures for communicating the channel inner space with the bearing space.

  • Patent number: 5534144
Abstract: A unit for treating liquid comprises a cylindrical container (1) which, in an upper chamber (6), has a set of slender tubes (8) which the liquid is forced to pass on its way from an inlet (10) to an outlet (9), so as to be subjected to a treatment, such as deionization, during this forced passage. An annular casing (11) is arranged in a lower chamber (7) and serves to distribute the liquid flowing in through the inlet (10). The casing (11) is defined by inner and outer side walls (12, 13) sealingly interconnected along an upper edge portion (14) as well as interconnected by at least one lower, transverse wall (15) which is provided with a plurality of small holes through which the liquid is squeezed out in the form of a large number of individual jets. The cross-sectional area of the liquid-distributing casing (11) continuously decreases away from the inlet (10) towards an opposite end (18) of the casing.
