Abstract: There is provided a method for multi-user packet transmission in a Wireless Local Area Network, WLAN. The method comprises actively delaying (S1) packets before transmission to enable clustering of packets intended for multiple users. The method also comprises simultaneously transmitting (S2) the clustered packets to the multiple users. By actively delaying and clustering packets intended for multiple users in a data buffer of a WLAN network node, efficient multi-user packet transmission is enabled. This results in significantly improved system performance such as system throughput.

Abstract: There is provided access to a communications channel in a wireless communications network. Stations (STAs) associated with an access point (AP) are grouped in at least two groups of STAs, each group being associated with a minimum transmission power level needed by the AP to communicate with the STAs in that group. A first time interval is allocated for a first group of STAs associated with highest minimum transmission power to access the communications channel concurrently with a third time interval being allocated by another AP for a third group of STAs associated with lowest minimum transmission power level needed by said another AP to communicate with the third group of STAs to access the communications channel.

Abstract: There is provided a method of operation of a communication unit in a Wireless Local Area Network, WLAN, environment. The method comprises the step (S1) of the communication unit embedding identification information into at least the Physical, PHY, preamble of the PHY header of a WLAN frame. The method also comprises the step (S2) of the communication unit performing transmission of the WLAN frame for enabling a recipient to identify i) the communication unit and/or ii) a WLAN to which the communication unit is associated, and/or iii) whether the transmission originates from a member of a specific group of communication units based on the embedded identification information.

Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to a first station (STA1) and a method performed by a first station (STA1) for handling Request-to-Send/Clear-to-Send, RTS/CTS, transmissions in a wireless communications network (100). The first station (STA1) is served by a first access point (AP1) in a first Basic Service Set (BSS1). The first station (STA1) receives a RTS/CTS transmission relating to a second Basic Service Set (BSS2). Then, the first station (STA1) determine whether or not to set a Network Allocation Vector, NAV, according to the RTS/CTS transmission based on whether the RTS/CTS transmission was sent from a second station (STA2) or from a second access point (AP2) in the second Basic Service Set (BSS2). Embodiments herein also relate to a first access point (AP1) and a method performed by a first access point (AP1) for handling RTS/CTS transmissions in a wireless communications network (100).

Abstract: There is provided a method, performed by a network node associated with at least two wireless communication devices, for scheduling packet transmission over a radio-based medium. The method comprises sensing (S1) the radio-based medium by estimating a received signal level, and evaluating (S2), for each of the at least two wireless communication devices, whether the radio-based medium is accessible or free for transmission based on comparing the received signal level to a respective threshold associated with the considered wireless communication device. The method further comprises scheduling (S3) packet transmission over the radio-based medium based on the evaluating, for each of the at least two wireless communication devices, whether the radio-based medium is accessible or free for transmission.
