  • Patent number: 7231944
Abstract: The tension and anti-recoil mechanism of the present invention is connected to a tool handle of a cable tie tool. The tool handle has a barrel and a grip depending therefrom. The tension and anti-recoil mechanism includes a regulator grip supported in the barrel. A one-piece cutter actuator is supported in the regulator grip for longitudinal displacement relative to the barrel. A tension limiting mechanism directs a retaining force against the cutter actuator to resist longitudinal displacement thereof relative to the barrel. The retaining force may be controlled to limit the tension produced in a cable tie prior to severing the strap thereof. Recoil of the cable tie tool which may result from the severing is substantially limited by the tension and anti-recoil mechanism.

  • Patent number: 7216679
Abstract: The cable tie tool has a modular tool head and a tool handle from which the tool head may be detached. The attachment and detachment provided by the modular tool head provides for the use of multiple tool heads with a single tool handle in which is mounted a trigger mechanism. Each modular tool head is secured to the tool handle by a latch mechanism. Each tool head further includes a tensioning mechanism for applying a tension force to a cable tie. Each tensioning mechanism provides for application of a corresponding tension force to the cable tie proportional to the force applied to the tensioning mechanism by the trigger mechanism. The respective tension forces are different for at least one uniform force applied by the trigger mechanism to the corresponding tensioning mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 7185680
Abstract: The cable tie tool has a variable trigger linkage which is supported within a tool handle by a connection thereto. The trigger linkage is coupled to a lever and movable between open and closed positions such that moving the trigger linkage from the open to closed positions causes the lever to pivot from neutral to tensioned positions. The trigger linkage engages the lever alternatively at near or distant positions thereon to couple the trigger linkage to the lever such that, when a uniform force is applied to the trigger linkage for movement thereof from the open to closed positions, the engagement at the distant position results in the force applied to the tool head by the lever being greater than the force applied to the tool head by the lever which results from the engagement at the near position.

  • Patent number: 7003883
Abstract: A cable-stripping tool includes two parts that can be moved linearly in relation to each other, each of the parts including an opening which can accommodate a cable when the openings are in mutual alignment. The first part carries a cutting blade and has a support arrangement with a ring that, when rotated about an axis, adjusts a cutting depth of the blade. A spring element functions to bias the parts in a direction away from each other, while enabling the two tool parts to be brought together against the spring bias by a user squeezing with only one hand so that the cable to be stripped can be inserted into the tool intermediate the two ends to which force is applied.

  • Patent number: 6910275
Abstract: A cable-stripping tool having a body with first and second openings in an upper wall thereof, a central pin mounted in the body with an upper end thereof carrying a cutting blade and projecting through the first opening, and a hook having a concave side which faces toward the cutting blade to receive a cable to be stripped protecting through the second opening. A carrier element is supported on the central pin and axially movable relative thereto, the carrier element being provided with a latching device to which the free end of the stem portion of the hook is coupled such that the hook is axially movable with the carrier element. The latching device coacts with the stem to secure the hook to the carrier element during use of the tool and is actuatable from outside the tool without dismantling the tool such that the stem can be released from the latching device using an instrument and the hook withdrawn for replacement thereof with another hook.

  • Patent number: 6910401
Abstract: Cable-stripping pliers having between its clamping jaws a cutting unit with mutually co-acting arms including cutting elements. The cutting unit has an abutment body which is movable in the longitudinal direction of the pliers and which limits the stripping length. The body Includes a latching device for latching the arms together in their closed state. The latching device includes a latching finger that engages a recess in the other arm when the abutment body is displaced to one end and the arms are brought together. The Cable-stripping pliers is arranged so that the cutting unit is removed easily when the clamping jaws are open and the cutting unit is in its closed state.

  • Patent number: 6802125
Abstract: A cable-stripping tool having two parts which can rotate relative to one another about an axis and of which a first part carries a cutting blade in the vicinity of said axis and a second part of which carries a hook which can move axially and which is biased towards an end position relative to the cutting blade by means of a first spring element. A cam disc is non-rotatably connected to the first part and can be moved axially therealong. The cam disc has around its periphery mutually spaced engagement formations which are intended to co-act with a cam follower carried by the second part. A second spring element is adapted to bias the cam disc axially into contact with the cam follower. A third spring element is adapted to rotationally bias the second part relative to the first part.

  • Publication number: 20030110898
Abstract: Cable-stripping pliers includes between its clamping jaws (2, 3) a cutting unit (14) having mutually co-acting cutting elements (65, 75). A mechanism (17) is connected on the one hand to handgrip legs (4, 5) of the pliers and on the other hand to said clamping jaws (2, 3) and a pull rod connected to the cutting unit (14). As the jaws (2, 3) are closed, the mechanism causes the clamping elements (2a, 3a) and the cutting unit (14) to initially engage the cable, and thereafter to withdraw the pull rod, whilst essentially retaining engagement between said clamping elements and the cable upon continued closure of the legs of the pliers handle. The pull rod includes a pin (60) that projects freely in a direction which is normal to the movement plane of the clamping jaws (2, 3) and that engages in a corresponding opening (61) in the cutting unit.
